A chance meet of strangers
____________________
He sits there all alone
With the rainfall absurd
And he stares ahead somberly
As it flows down the curb
It taps upon his head noisily
As he feels only disdain
And the rain quickly drenches his fur
Then flows down the drain
He stands up quickly
And he wipes the rain from his jacket
As he squints into the distance
To cast off the racket
Well doesn't it just figure
And ain't it just so?
It's seems to be always raining
Well at least it's not snow
"Pardon me sir"
Came a faint but calming sound
As his eyes go wide
And he turns quickly around
For standing there on the sidewalk
Is what looks to be a fox
Then he lets out a small yip
With a manner of vox
Oh sorry about that
He announces real hard
I thought I was alone
And you caught me off guard
"I didn't mean to scare you"
The fox says polite
"May I ask why you were you sitting here
On this cold rainy night?"
Not that it really matters
He says, lowering his tone
And if I could be perfectly honest
I'd rather be alone
"I can't let you do that"
Says the fox with a smirk
"I can never turn my back on a friend
I would look like a jerk"
Well thanks for the offer
But there's something I don't get
How can you say I'm your friend?
We only just met
" I see what you mean
Well I offer no danger
And that's how all friendships start
A chance meet, with a stranger"
