i rather like this design
from what i can tell your using the bridge a bit here
might i advise trying the mirroring trick
make one half of an entire model you had in mind and then select the blank single face and right click and hit mirror
this will replicate the other side and weld them together creating a perfect model
that sword i made was created doing this method
