John considered revising the “Buffalo Wings” scenario once, and in the new story (which he called “Griffin Park”) Willard was a professional minor league hockey player. I’d never bought sports cards (though I did collect the “Star Trek” CCG back in the mid-90s), so had to do some research on the ‘Net to create an authentic-looking design.
Why isn’t Willard wearing a complete uniform? The CEO of ProCards Inc. decided to use SEX to help shift their merchandise – so they asked their athletes to strip down for the photo shoot, hoping to corner the female teen market. Heh...

Heh, thank you, but I copied the style of this particular drawing from
cooner's old Buffalo Wings comics! :) His developing style was different in those days (early 1990s), and I wanted to draw Willard exactly as drawn by Cooner, or as close as possible.
Not the best way to develop an original style of your own, of course...
