May I ask what direction you plan on taking the image, as you mention it is unfinished?
If you're already planning on continuing refining the paint into more specific detail, and the whole image will have a comparable level of detail to the face when it is finished, might I suggest a few shell casings flying away from the body of the gun?
To contribute to that effect, rather than worry about muzzle flare from the supposed spent rounds, you could add a variable level of red-hot glow to the inside of the barrels, with the strongest glow effect in the top most barrel on the left, while the other barrels have a decayed heat effect to them and aren't quite as bright, decreasing in brightness in a counter-clockwise direction. This can give an impression of the gun actively being fired without clogging up the image with the flash typically associated with the discharge of a weapon.
Even so, even without changing a thing and solely focusing on refining the detail of the current image, I would say it looks fantastic. It will look even more so when it is finished, I wager.

The red and hot glow is a fantastic idea but I am afraid if the glow combines with fire around the barrels it will be a hard task for me to handle with my limited skills.I was planning to give the pic more details and to make the shade more realistic. Now I think I will have a try on adding your advice into the pic.Thank you for your interest!(Sorry for my bad English if it annoys you.)
Your English is fine. ^^
You wouldn't have to add in any fire effects; the discharge would be suggested in past tense using the glow, as if the picture captured a moment just after the flash of fire dissipated, and right before the next round was shot. That way, you only need to use the barrel glow to add the action to the scene without taking away from the the surrounding part of the image. =D
