Zhane, the pet / guard yinglet, taking one of many power naps throughout the day. The well to do merchant family Zhane is with affectionately nicknamed him "Thane" after a past beloved pet.
Shown here, Zhane is equipped with a harness, a yinglet whistle to call for help, and a skav knife with tail strap holding case. The harness is attached at the beginning of his shift and removed at the end of each day, and has enough slack to cover his patrol zone. The design was directly copied from a police dogs uniform. The whistle only has one hole for the yinglet to blow through, which is a simplification to the multi hole musical reed flute occasionally seen played by more expressive Yinglets.
Zhane is really enjoying his full time job working as a guard for this nice merchant family. Being of a less than scrupulous nature, when Zhane first got the position, he quickly hatched a plan to buy himself job security. By the end of his first week, he found a transient yinglet in town with whom he struck up a deal. In order to prove how invaluable his services were to the family, he paid the transient half his first weeks pay upfront, and the other half upon completion of the task. The transient yinglet was paid to break into the house (with Intel provided by Zhane), and then very publicly be caught by Zhane as he tried to abscond with the stolen goods. He was also instructed to put up a good fight to make it convincing, prior to Zhane secretly letting the transient go after dropping the loot. For the most part, it all went according to plan, except for the part where the transient put up TOO good a fight. After cutting off Zhanes ear tip, the transient got a rather hard kick to the genitals and took that as his sign to leave. The whole kerfluffle was staged in front of the merchant family, who quickly came to tend the wounds of their heroic pet / guard. Zhane never had to worry about getting fired after that.
