Interesting that you have a cockroach in a position of power (least I'm assuming that's what Oguchi's species is). I take it the reputation of certain arthropods doesn't carry over to this world?

Oguchi is a cicada, but Asami is a cockroach. And no, all the species stereotypes and cliches do not apply to Blade Under Mask. They have their own culture, and different kind of prejudices. :3

Memoirs of a Geisha was what made me discover the geisha world back in 2005! Since then I've started reading and watching a lot of books and documentaries on real geisha (MoaG is a good romance, but not very accurate to the real thing!), and that's from where I take my inspiration and knowledge of this portion of Japan's tradition. :)

Some things are bound to be similar, of course, since the source inspiration is the same!
