Ok, this is a first attempt made by me to re-create the world of Age of Fire on map, based on the first base made by
amcalmaron
The map show the situation in the world at the beginning of the series. Even if some elements are a bit uncertain because of the same books (and the maps) suggest different elements that are pretty much open to interpretation.
For who doesn't know the series here we have the following nations/territories:
Barbarian Lands: pretty much a loose coalition of warring tribes of human barbarians. They unite only to face external foes.
Hypatian Empire: despite the name, they're actually some kind of confederation of cities and it's probably the most cultural advanced human civilization in the world: they're ruled by a "Directory" that is basically an oligarchy (rather than a full democracy), thay however rule according an advanced system of laws and codes.
Once, the Empire ruled all around the shores of the Inland Ocean, but now they're falling in ruin.
Each province (Thanedom) is now actually moving closer to independence, with growing barbarism and local tyrants.
Also elves lives into the Empire, and some all-elves cities are located in the south (like Krakenoor).
Wheel of Fire, and Diadem, are the two main dwarfs "clans": the first one (a warring and violent group) at some point move from being ruled by a council into an absolute monarchy. The Diadem is more involved in trading (and it is actually a powerful trading company, more than claiming to be a "nation", but they have a political power).
Sweep of the Ironriders: an huge land ruled by an human civilization of warrior horse-riders: splintered in many tribes, these lords of horses have a long history of war with the other civilizations.
Old Uldam: it's not actually a nation, but a territory that still brings the name of the ancient blighter empire: blighters (large humanoid, similar to the Orcs of many fantasy stories) still inhabits these lands, split in many tribes, however they're sometimes united during the Age of Fire and often acts to defend themselves.
Princedoms of Sunstruck Sea: many different human princedoms and eastern kingdoms resembling our middle-east civilizations.
Ghioz Empire: a growing powerful human empire, ruled by a merciless Queen. Despite being less culturally advanced than the Hypatians, they have a thriving (and greedy) economy and seek to expands their borders with wars or intrigues.
Dragon Empire: the most prominent dragon civilization, they actually inhabits the Lower World and the Lavadome, but dragons rely on supplies and allies from their "Upholds" on the surface (sort-of vassal states).
Sadda-Vale: a remote area inhabited by a dwindling group of dragons, separated from the Empire, remains of the ancient and powerful Silverhigh.
Ku-Zuhu: a small human nation, not an "Uphold", but strict allies of dragons.
Windbreak-isles and Chush-mereamae: inhabited by tribes of human head-hunters, hostile to the southern dragon Upholds.
Comments and opinions are extremely welcome ^^

Not much people know it at all indeed! I am a big fan of not-human point-of-view literature,
and among dragons-books, AoF is a top series I enjoyed. I have made few fan-arts but most important I am active as a coadmin of a fangroup on deviantart (collecting the rare arts of it), plus I worked on the fan-made wiki project ^^
