Another Idea I had wile coming up with the Preserver Creepers was the Day Walker cult.
A group of superstitious, pseudo Druidic skeletons who worship the Sun and grow trees.
With the help of potions and protective clothing the Day Walkers can move out in the sunlight.
They seem Druidic in nature, as they tend to grow a lot of plants mostly trees, the latter of which shields them from the sun. Due to this fact, Day Walkers have a habit of growing whole forests which they tend fill with smaller plant life.
Day Walkers are very protective of the plants they grow. They are less violent than normal skeletons, but quickly become aggressive should anyone threaten their precious trees.
So long as their trees remain untouched the Day Walkers are tolerant of Builders, and will even offer to trade for items that help them walk in sunlight.
Day Walker superstitions mostly revolve around light sources, such as torches. They refuse to craft, or accept such items in trade, with the exception of Jack-O-Lanterns which they view as a plant.
Their other superstition revolve around harvesting their plants. Harvesting plants for seeds and saplings is always very ritualistic, and for a casual observer... often quite hilarious.
This is because when Day Walkers harvest a tree, and said tree drops little to no saplings. The superstitious skeletons will fly into a panic. Believing they may have some how botched their ritual and angered the trees, they run around flailing hysterically wile making incomprehensible 'plonking' sounds.
An equally hilarious spectacle is what happens when a tree under their care grows extra large. The performance is the same apart from the fact that it is more happy than panic.
It is also worth noting another hilarious spectacle is what happens when an Enderman happens to take a plant from the Day Walkers...

Endermen - The Flawless Wall. After having mindlessly stolen countless blocks, an ender actually stops to observe what they are pulling blocks from, only to be struck by it's wondrous symmetry. While normally it's just shifting dirt, rocks, and tree bits around, in order to get things 'just right', when faced with an actual structure, one with a clear design, shifting blocks around is now seen as making things less 'right'.
Still a small group, The Flawless Wall congregate near any artificial structures, looking for the 'perfect' design, and occasionally 'tweaking' things if they think something could use improvement. At times this can be helpful, as a member of the group will bring resources to a builder to help complete a design, at times somewhat less so, as another member of the group might shift things to make it 'better'.
Zombies are a bit tricker, only thing that comes to mind, 'Second Chance', a 'group' of zombies that having seen a zombie villager cured by a builder, have taken to harmlessly(if slightly annoyingly) mobbing the builder, in an attempt to be 'cured' as well.

As with the cult of constructive creepers, this sounds like another fascinating group to encounter in one's travels.
Have you considered teaming up with someone who's into Minecraft modding, to try and implement these unusually progressive groups? The described behaviors would doubtless be difficult to implement, but would make a fantastic addition to the boundless worlds of the game.
