Introducing Merak, one of the Septentri-- I mean mech-like alien antagonists.
He's the second one after Dubhe.

Unlike Dubhe, who seems to be bent on nothing but destruction, Merak is more sentient.
He's the face of the group, and is the only one capable of speaking Lunarian, the main language of my chars.

Despite being referred to and identifying as male, his true gender is unknown, or even if he has a gender in the first place.

Whereas Dubhe's attacks revolve around giant lasers, Merak is a swordsman.
He carries a sword which blade is composed of thermal energy. Merak can elongate the sword to great lengths, creating more double helixes in its design.

Merak can also deploy a forcefield composed of dense dark matter, which can neutralize energy and disintegrate certain matter, rendering every attack useless.

Much like Dubhe, Merak is named after one of the stars in Ursa Major.
The name of the star itself is derived from the Arabic المراق al-maraqq "the loins" (of the bear).

... Or I can name him Mizar, which has Alcor as a binary star. That way, I can name his sword Alcor.
