A place you can relax and unwind after a long day at the forge! And dealing with customers. They can be so testy sometimes, you know!
Maltir has always been one to wander the woods. If he's not at work, he's likely off exploring, looking for new and interesting secluded places to call his own. Tior, the world he lives in, stands in stark contrast to our own. The sentient species of Tior are not as populous as Humans in his time, leaving much of the world claimed by nature. A walk through the woods for the more adventurous soul could reveal places and wonders that no other person has ever seen. Hours could pass on end without hearing the shouts of another person. Just the calls of birds, the chirping of insects, and the babbling of water as it rushes over the river stones, long since worn smooth and round. It was treacherous to get here; the rocks were slick with water and moss, and shifted underfoot. It was well worth the effort, though. As he dipped his paws into the water, he couldn't help but reflect on the moment. These times when he ran off... there was something so unique about them. To be alone with the world, nothing but nature and his own thoughts to keep him company... there was something so peaceful, yet thrilling about it. The late summer sun was setting fast. A faint sliver of brilliant yellow light streaked across the tops of the trees. He squinted into the light which had already forsaken most of what lay around him. If he laid back, he too would become immersed in the lengthening shadows. The water had soaked through his fur, chilling his paws. Despite the temperate climate of the mountain forests, the river flowed down from higher up, bringing the mountain chill with it. The thick fur he had inherited from his Fahlir lineage kept him from feeling the chill in the winter wind mostly. The cold that the water brought was a sensation he rarely felt. It was oddly refreshing. He gazed into the water, crystal clear despite the turbulence of the quick flow. He would wait here. There was no need to go looking for other people. He knew that someone - one person in particular - would find him before long. A content smile formed on Maltir's lips as the thought, the image of a certain face rolled over and over in his mind, like the tumbling water of the river.
For clarification - Maltir is a Fahlir-S'ahl mixed breed (The species are very closely related, so that's pretty common in Tior!). As such, he retains traits of both species. Larger S'ahl-esque ears (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/17790362/), longer tail, etc. come from his S'ahl heritage, while his shorter, stockier build, thick fur, and shorter muzzle come from his Fahlir heritage. He's actually in his early twenties, despite the babyface!
Fantastic commission from
stormwhiskers! It's always a pleasure to work with her on this sort of thing! (Thank you!!!!)
Maltir, Fahlir, S'ahl, and all related concepts belong to me, and are NOT open for use. Thanks for being super awesome and respecting that!
