Amusingly, I don't know if Count Von Count's creators were aware of this; there are reputedly old European myths about vampires being obsessive-compulsive counters, and one of the ways to stop a vampire from attacking you was supposedly to distract him by spilling seeds on the floor, and escaping while the monster is compelled to stop and count them all.
