[3D/ArtSong] 02.01.16 - Sorrow is your Tale
[Song]

[Theme]
Once again, this one has little to do with the lyrics (I actually don't know them aside from the chorus) and also little to do with the music itself, since despite the name, it's...quite of an upbeat song. In fact, the majority of the inspiration came from my girlfriend. The setting, character and the song title made me want to do this image for quite a while now. Most of it has to do with her past (you know, abuse, rural work, family issues and violence, etc), which leads her to some pretty freaky psychological issues (most noticeably self-injury) and she's constantly in a sorrowful mood. Oddly, dark, rainy, gray locations make her feel happy, while bright sunlight brings her to tears of sadness. Yep.
[Making]
Not much here. If you look at the non-postworked version (link below or in my scraps), I cropped her feet off. This was because of the kinda fish-eyed setting for the camera, which left her feet quite big and showed how glaringly shitty it looked. So yeah. |D
The setting also changed quite a bit, as the original locations was a snowy ruin. But playing around with the ruin textures, it made more sense to make the ground follow suit, especially after placing the tree in the back and intending to do rain effects on post.
Lastly, played around with postwork brushes and also some free brushes from DA, mainly one certain pack (linked below). The rain and bokeh effects (those camera stains and such), as usual, are from Ron's packs. The only annoying part here was adjusting the lights & backgrounds. I wanted one that felt opressively dark, but also hopeful, with maybe some tiny rays of light somewhere. Ron's Apocalyptic pack had some very good backgrounds, but they didn't fit correctly with the light. Eventually I was using one of them as an environment map (lights & shadows) and the same one as an environment picture (like a photo pasted on the untextured sky). However, around my constant color nibbling and adjusting, it got this blueish coloration and the light got way stronger. Eh, still works. Even helps the background ruin stand out more, I'd say. x3
