hOI!!!!!!
Since 2011, I've always given my son something special to wear, hold, or keep tabs on when I go off for a surgery. Sometimes it would be one of my treasured plushies, or a special pin to where at school.
This time, since my son LOVES the Temmies from Undertale, I splurged a bit to purchase us matching shirts with this particular design on them. This way he can wear it to school on the day of my surgery and I can wear it, too, to know we are together despite being 200 miles away.
My son has gotten used to me going off on doctors' appointments and surgeries, but it is still rough on him to know what I have to go through. So I do my best to find positive, fun distractions to take away at least some of the worries while letting him know he's with me and that I'm doing my best for him. :)

My surgery is on January 27th. It will go well no matter how it goes. I'm just trying to get as much as I can done in the event I do lose what sight I have forever. :)
Thanks very much for the well wishes. Even if I can't see, I will still be able to make comments here. So I'm not leaving FA anytime soon. :)

I can do better.

Just watch the first video on my journal above and you'll find "TEMMIE VILLAGE". :)

Thanks! It's what has worked in the past and what I'm hopeful will work in the future. (Though, I'd ideally want to not have another eye surgery ever again for a long, long time) :)
I still remember one of the first true "Coping with..." actions I did was when I finally got to leave the hospital in 2012 to stay in an off-site "Family House". I sat down with my laptop and wrote for four hours straight. I then used my screen reading knowledge to get onto G-Mail and send my wife the story I wrote so she could read it to our son. I did this four more times over the course of my recovery while away. It gave me something to do to pass the time while also allowing me to still interact with my family over 200 miles away.
Ethan really has loved the Temmies and I'm glad we can do this to ensure our bond between is strong while my wife and I are away. I'm so thankful for my wife being able to take time off for my surgery to be there with me. My mom was there for my two month banishment in 2012, but it isn't the same as having the one you love most by your side. :)

Isn't it amazing how close we can become to our mates?
Have you ever thought of what it might be like to have someone else share so much time with you? More importantly to share the same bed when you go to sleep and wake up together? I know the thought of anyone else besides my Tina doesn't feel right at all. There's lots of people I "Love" and "Appreciate", but none I'd want to spend every day of my life with than my mate. :)
Kiffin is a very lucky fellow to have such a smart, determined, and warmhearted individual to share life with until the end of time. You're one of my best friends and it makes me smile to know you are just as happy with your life partner as I am with mine. :) *Crinklehugs*

Yeah, it's nice to know that we're pretty committed to each other. A lot of furry couples sleep around with others. I'm not judging or saying that's a bad thing, but Kiffy and me are definitely an exception when it comes to that. We still offer lots of hugs and snuggles, but we have our own stuff we do with each other and no one else. Sort of that special something, you can share with your soul mate. Every healthy couple needs to have something like that in my opinion
I strongly agree, dear friend. I know I treasure those things in which only Tina and I can do. They may not be seen as "Extraordinary" by some, but they mean a lot to us. :)
I'm glad you and Kiffin are able to share plenty of hugs and snuggles. It is such a beautiful feeling being in the embrace of someone you truly love and who truly loves you more than anyone else in the world.
