Something different both in drawing style and purpose.
One thing I wanted to do is show that all my alien species have multiple cultural assets and aren't just a planet of hats. I picked the ginaga... because they're kinda my go to species (no secret there)but also because being a kinda super tech savvy species make the visible contrast much easier to produce.
Ginaga are still the simple tree dwelling people they've always been just many choose to live in the city for safety reasons given recent events on their home planet.
For the style... just wanted something soft and cute darn it. Blame artists like
Skymachine and
Donitkitt. I usually attract more to angular styles or more grotesque ones (explains the look of my own work) but sometimes I want to just make things squishy with minimal details and have roundish curves!
Did some experimentation with the colours and even how to do backgrounds. Figured if I was going to do something a little less directly developing out my sci fi I could still use it to figure out how to keep characters from blending into background details.
Enjoy!

thank you :D. I'm probably not going to always use different styles (as the next piece I have plan goes back to the angular one) BUT when I'm not doing production art that directly relates to the comic I see no reason to use the same style every single time xP. Basically maintaining consistency is good when you have to but not so much when you don't.
Yes :o different styles is good. I mean you never need to force yourself but its always neat to try to translate something into different looks by exaggerating different features. I even hope to one day work backwards and draw all the alien people species of my sci fi realistically. I mean it would be nice for the sake of reference if people knew what each species should look like if they really existed.
