I did this little study before doing my most recent piece, "The Hunt" to get back in the groove of drawing werewolves. You'll see its preliminary sketch here as well. Back in the day they used to be my main subject, but I had become rusty in both anatomy and expression. So I practiced using Chad Ballard's Torruk Forestshroud from Sentinel.
All the speech bubbles are moments from the book!
For my new personal take on them, I took inspiration and used reference from Skyrim werewolves, Van Helsing werewolves, artists like Kyoht and Atan, as well as anatomy from real life wolves. I wanted to maintain the feel of horror style werewolves while still giving him a wide range of possible expression.
Hope you guys like them! I adoooore werewolves just as much as dragons.

Ah, good point! I think that if I had an image with his jaw shut completely closed as opposed to open or slacked, it might make a difference. Despite that, I think with your advice I'll give them a bit of a sleeker muzzle in the future, as I agree. Thank you!
I would absolutely LOVE to have a shot at your werewolf sometime! If you're ever looking out for commissions, I am open for you.
Yeah I really appreciated the sharp features of the Van Helsing werewolf. Big teeth, pointy ears, big physique. Though I like to add a bit more fluff, in some places, less in others, and yes! The tail!
