My final presentation (of images from my black-covered 'fat furry' sketch book) for today is the fattened 'fursona' of anthroartist Ruben Rodriguez (a.k.a. 'Rags') - who was kind enough to do it back in 2003 (when I was attending "Pawpet Megaplex" in Orlando, FL).
Ruben moved down from New England to south Florida in the mid-1990s (many months after my own arrival in the 'Sunshine State'), where he met his future bride-to-be, Joy. He had relocated from Fort Lauderdale to West Palm Beach to Lake Park - where he and Joy brought up several cats, a dog, and a ferret, before the two of them were blessed with a bouncing baby boy. (Presently, their pet population is now down to two cats.)
Sadly, a series of misadventures in their lives (hampered mostly by two hurricanes - each one striking their Lake Park home in 2004 and 2005) had forced them to reevaluate living in Florida. Last fall, Ruben was given a great opportunity to advance his vocational aibilities; but it required relocating his entire family. So, in late November, 2008, I got to see Ruben one last time, as the Rodriguez family left south Florida for (you guessed it!) New England. Of course, since he is settling into another environment, it will probably be quite a while before he returns to his drawing board (if, in fact, he will ever draw anthropomorphic characters again).
You can still see samples of his past art (and even send an E-mail message) from his own website (which is still online): http://www.ringtail.net/
Meanwhile, allow me to share this rounded 'Rags Raccoon' with you... Enjoy!
