Saturday! New page out!
We're still a bit swamped in stuff to do, so for now we can only post one page per week, but we hope to post more soon. :3
Please consider supporting the comic on [Patreon], so we can post more pages faster! And Patrons still get to see new pages two days earlier, on Thursdays! Yay!
██ Blade Under Mask agora também em português! http://bladeundermask.com/?p=comicpt&cp=11

For those who don't understand whats going on I suggest watching this https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=d.....;v=J4H6rDJW38w
It doesn't explain everything in this story per say but understanding the culture behind Maiko and Geisha should help. If you're interested in all things Japan, Begin Japanology is an awesome series and is highly recommended!

So, if I understand correctly, she is already accepted as a geisha, judging by the white collar? As in, had her Erikae?
Or is she a senior maiko that had her mizuage? This comic helped me spur some curiosity and inspiration to go looking for some more information.. Truly, it is rare something makes me want to learn something so much more than normal~

Nae is still a maiko, but has been for three years so she's a senior one (maiko training lasts for about 5 years), and only needs the back part of her collar to be red, when working. But in this scene, she's just wearing a casual kimono so her collar is fully white. She still didn't have any form of maiko to geisha transition ceremony, but having been invited for the festival is a very good opportunity to show what she's capable of...!
We took some liberties with designs and rules here and there in the comic though, since their society is different from Japanese society (this story happens in the fictional world of Great Land, inspired by feudal Japan but not feudal Japan!), some of their traditions are different too. Like Nae still getting to wear the dangling kanzashi, because they're really cute. :D
If you want I can recommend you a lot of very cool books, documentaries and movies about maiko and geisha. I love them and have been studying them for the past 5 year!

My, colour me enlightened..
And of course, I can definitely understand that. I mean, the actual world is somberly lacking in such anthropomorphic mantids and the like, but of course there is still some cultural connection, and my curiosity is piqued.. Which it rarely is.
Though, I would adore some documentaries! Any recommendations and where to find them would be greatly appreciated
