My family talks about renting a house in the 70s that used to belong to a tv repair guy, how there were semi functional tvs and tubes stuffed in every cranny. 'Course their response was to have a party where they piled them up in the yard, plugged them in and went bowling, so...

I was just lamenting the loss of TV repair shops.
That's where I bought nice tools and parts for projects.
They had better stuff than Lafayette or Radio Shack
and the employees knew their stuff.
The so-called "hacker spaces" barely fill the gap.
I still adore 'Magic eye' tuning indicator tubes.
