Finally got my other B&O all happy with its brand new MMC2, took a quick snap shot, turned out nice with the calibrated white balance, I like it warm. Not to mention 1600 ISO and not getting TERRIBLE grain.
Playing David Bowie- Changes on 45 Picture Disc, Record Store Day Exclusive, sound's absolutely amazing, Next time I listen though, will be with a new tube amp.
Though right now with the old receiver and Bose, it's sounding pretty incredible.
Also, stoked that hand holding the camera got this clear of a shot with that shutter speed so damn low, did not expect.

For the record, I had a feeling that this photo of an analog player could not have been taken with an analog camera, with ordinary 1600 35mm film. From all of the results that I have seen from 1600 film, the results would have been too grainy to show such fine detail.
I hope you keep on having a groovy (get it, record grooves? Sorry, but, as a skunk, I feel I must put the 'pu' in "pun") time with your equipment! ^!~
By the way, did I see you at Anthro New England?

I was there, didn't reg, just be bopped around for a while, sort of testing the waters, seeing if I would bother going next year.
After Furpocalypse I have like, no real interest in cons unless I can drive less than 40 minutes to them, and even then not interested.
I was there because a friend wanted to hang out with someone he hadnt been around in like years, so I went as a sort of tour guide to the Boston scene, but the trains were shut down in sections, and no one could really get together due to furries planning soooooo it was mostly waiting around until we spotted ppl we knew, then we went out together to eat, came back met others who wanted to go eat but we already ate, so we just hung around in the lobby for a fat minute then left. lol

A miracle of modern science! ^!^
I''m sorry that the T gave you trouble. Unfortunately, when the oldest subway in the Americas gets a face-lift, it takes a couple of decades to complete, and then probably start over. You can't claim that such construction projects never happen on the highways of New Hampshire, so I personally don't se that sort of thing as being a very valid reason for not returning to an event. If cons aren't for you, then they aren't for you, I shall never argue with anyone about that. It seems that you still managed to have a good time, though. If so, I'm glad for that.
I probably saw you and shouted for you at some point during that fat minute (I was in fursuit, by the way. That probably didn't help). I'm pretty sure I shall see you around, again, and that you shall say "Hello" back to me.
*skunky hugs*

I have a couple 1800's too but this one is more photogenic because of its fake ass display lol.
I got mine super cheap, like one of the 1800s i paied 5$ for with two pickups. (MMC5 and an MMC2)
So I make out like a bandit, but if it costs too much I move on lol can't pass them up when they come super cheap, especially with new MMC's

This is on the TX2, not a fan of linear tangential opp tracking system, I'd rather a normal, well balanced tone arm any day.
I had an old Technics Sl-j2 I liked the linear tracking on that because it was built into the lid, and it had repeat lol.
I like the "cheaper" ones like the Technics one, because the cartridge isn't 1,600$ used, or 500$ for a rebuild service in Denmark, there is like only ONE guy who does them, He's rebuilt a couple of my MMC2s and one of the MMC1s but it's super expensive and takes months.
One of them the cantilever was replaced with a ruby one, I can't notice the difference between it and the hollow sapphire cantilever without checking the response on the RTA analyzer side by side, so if you do ever want a nude line diamond cartridge, it's safe to know you can pick up a ruby cantilever for half the price and it sounds the same.
And also cool to know if you see a ruby cantilever on a cartridge, it's been rebuilt because they never made ruby ones... So when you see "NEW VINTAGE B&O CARTRIDGE MMC1 UNUSED L@@K!!!111" on ebay and see that red cantilever.... it's a total sham lol.
Anyway yeah I dig my old ass stereo, before the hipster crowd started bying Crosley ceramic record peelers at newbury comics, you could find good mag carts everywhere, but now that it's popular again they are building everything cheeeeeap, and those ceramic cartridges destroy your records....
I wince every time I see or hear some one talking about how they are really heavy into vinyl and trying to be the hipster saying it sounds so much better than any other format out there... While buying records pressed from digital and their Crosley folding portables.... I just shake my head and try not to laugh.
I am by no means an audiophile, but at least I know enough about it to NOT buy bad stuff or equipment that is over priced because that's just how it is sold... Like, I wouldn't ever ever buy a goldfinger cartridge, because after 10 grand or so for a full system there is NO noticeable difference in sound AT ALL, unless it's speakers, but even then I don't have the sound room for it.
The sound room here isn't even insulated, the "good stereo" is in the sound room and well, nothing over 10 grand and it sounds absolutely amazing.
I think people buy the gimmicky equipment for the same reason people buy Roles Royce... Not a good car, but it's a statement if you have it, even though 40% off the time you own it, it is in for repair.
I was at Fidelis in Nashua NH a couple days ago... Looking at the 60,000$ amps and 12,000$ turntables.... and all I can do is chuckle, knowingly that they really do not sound better than what I have, even in their show room, the sound is the same as ours, and they pinked out the room and fully calibrated everything...
So it's like, if you can score good okay equipment for cheap, you win.
You can get a good enough receiver for 100 bucks and the best tube amp on amazon, dual channel 350$ I just watched a video on youtube, of a side by side comparison through RTA and scopes of the circuit, with a McIntosh amp... SAME only the cheap one had better insulation...
The McIntosh was the guy's pride and joy, he was kind of upset to learn that the amp his friend loaned him to check out was pretty much the same...
So yeah it's all in knowing what to buy, and not just buying the best or most expensive assuming that it is the best based on the price.
And only a FEW people doing reviews seem to know how to really test fidelity and audio reproduction.
That's why I always liked B&O even if most of it is ugly as fuck and looks like it belongs in a futuristic heavy metal movie...
Is because they use a laser chronometer and make sure the output signal is as close to if not spot on as the input signals, so at least even if I don't have their speakers and just use the old Bose 901s, the equipment itself is made well, even if some of their later stuff was a bit more cheesy, it still had a good bit of thought put into it, where as some of the "audiophile" turn tables I have used were, muffled and weird, and lost balance over time, and or had odd drop-out frequencies to "separate the sounds and give more presence and life" basically they take every couple hundred Hz and drop it completely, to give the illusion of clarity, it's annoying.
Anyway yeah so it's a garage sale find, got this one for I think 80 bucks, couldn't pass it up, had a new MMC2 with the "old worn out one" (which I took macro photos of to see how worn out it was... and it's not) New as in bought separate with it's little goofy box and a BOOK about how amaaaaazing it is.... it's lame lol but I got it super cheap so I won.
I can't find a good MMC2 that isn't worn out for under 400$, and those ones are OEM used to death ones.
IF YOU EVER look for a Beogram online, and it says "20$ Just needs a needle!!!" Don't. the "needles" are anywhere from 400 bucks for a shitty used one that has fractures in the cantilever (on the lower number MMCs the cantilevers are like a florescent light tube, only made of a hollow sapphire with a diamond sticking out of it like the Dark Crystal shard)
All the way up to 6 grand for a new untouched still sealed in box MMC1... Which sounds identical to the MMC2 (infact the MMC2 IS an MMC1 that "failed to make the threshold" of the MMC1, but their tolerances were so tight, the guy in Denmark used to work for B&O when they were in operation, and told me basically they are exactly the same, only didn't quite make the pick up response on the higher frequencies that were required for the certification of MMC1.... so like they could be a couple k shy and fail, NONE of them were off enough for a human to notice the difference, the frequencies failed were typically in the dolphin sonar range lol)
