Double row roller bearing on an FS10 AC compressor pulley. Off my F550 started howling and chattering and blowing gobs of rusty powder everyplace. All the balls and the inner race fell out on dissasembly, coil was wasted, clutch disc was smoked, it looks like it caught on fire! Anyway, one of my 3/4 drive sockets to the rescue, it just caught what was left of the dust seal and trapped it against the outer lip. The bearing is pressed in against a lip that hides the outer race 30 ton press and a sturdy socket saves the day again.

wow, that is bad
i had a bearing come apart on my dirt bike, the bearing literally blew apart at 90KM/H (only one side though), now, i need to get $ to get a new rear rim as well as new bearings and a few other parts, i was a mile away from home when it happened, so i turned around and drove back home trying to keep the tire straight all the time (doing that is hard when you are going 90km/h and always lean to one side to keep your balence)

well if the socket was to fail, the next stop was making something in the lathe. :) Napa did give me a replacement AC compressor after I showed them the smoked parts so I'll swap it out hopefully this week. I need some dry ice to make an alcohol bath to suck out all the refrigerant, cheap way to do a recovery.
