I thought folks might like to see some of my design process on this card.
I'm working on my Galaxy 10.1 pen tablet, using Autodesk Sketchbook. This one's about... a bazillion layers (well, maybe ten) and has gone through a lot of modifications. You can see the outline of a secondary character that I'm going to add (and then fade to the background)
As Phil Foglio said, the eyes are the key to the drawing. I'm pretty satisfied with some of the carapace but the colors still have to be balanced. On the other hand, I finally like the eyes. One trick I learned for doing eyes was to do them as you would a clear gemstone, with a darker top and a lighter area at the bottom.
Because electronic media allow you to explore (and undo) I will probably focus next on realigning the table (or not) and then making the color scheme work. Right now, the addition of reds and golds to the lobsteroid don't work, but if I balance the colors it won't seem so odd.
And, of course, I need to add funny bits to the scenery.
But I'll show you that another day. For right now, I have an Ominous Lobsteroid with an Exploding Drink. It probably doesn't get more exciting than that, eh?
And yeah, I'm having fun! Can you tell?

The lighting is a paean to Freas. But Scrumpy? I thought Scrumpy was a Somerset hard cider. Bit of a kick therein, but explosive...
I use a Galaxy 10.1 (2014 Edition) on a daily basis. Love it to pieces (so much I bought a Galaxy S5 phone), but my next one is going to be a 12".
