The design of her helmet is very interesting. Very eye catching yet practical. One of the things that hooked me on this series long ago was the attention to detail in the armor, weapons, and vehicles.

Indeed. Our Host has a long history of being both creative and educated in his tech designs. Most-all of his materiel is as evocative as it is exotic, buildable as it is imaginary.

BTW, unless I'm spoiling something out, what kind of background Tavas has? Since I always wondered why someone like Erma could hanging around with someone like him.

He is mostly just young, a bit clueless, and in love- but there is a touch of sociopath in there too. Remember they are both in their early twenties and still well down on the learning curve of life.

Pretty sad drama. Tavas probably thinks he's being a knight in shining armour, saving Erma from danger...while Erma is thinking that this what she signed-up for - to protect EDF worlds - what she does, what she intends to be good at - so he seems to her to be trying to cut her feet out from under her - instant alienation of what was just a moment ago "love"...young and quick to wonder, quick to anger, quick to hurt and shatter...

These first few pages got the story and characters introduced so fast - was always impressed by that.

And the art holds up just fine, so don't fret about that! Two traditional poles of comix art are Alex Toth and Wally Wood; Toth looked for the absolute simplest way to draw a character/panel whereas Wood looked to render everything into detailed 3D...both approaches are valid and you tended to vary between them as you experimented with film, wash, inking...With Erma's story the story/drama was so compelling that changes of style were never an issue or distraction.

Still, you can't really blame Tavas. In his mind he *does* want to protect the one he loves...he's just going about it in a really stupid way.

It shows he doesn't know Erma as well as he thinks he does.

I love the uniforms and helmet, it works so perfectly.

I know you've received this one a lot, but I discovered about Erma Felna just last year and I "binged" through it for a couple of months: I hope you can finish this story in a near future, because I want to see this MF gets what he deserves.
