Manhattan Mandrill -- Zoonosis Outbreak File 001
                    Case Date: Sept 05 1988
Subject is a 28 year old male maintenance worker at the Bronx Zoo, refer to as Martin. Having only been employed there for three months he was brought in yesterday after having been exposed to an unknown agent.
Recently the zoo had acquired a mandrill monkey from parts unknown. The specimen was reported to be strange, having been taller and calmer than most. Reports from overnight maintenance indicate having heard voices and calls for help around the area of it's cage after dark however upon investigation no persons other than the maintenance crew were found to be in the park.
At 10 am Martin was beginning cage cleaning rounds. Standard procedure is that exhibits are cleared of animals by specially trained zookeepers who then let the maintenance crew in. Martin reported that he heard a voice calling from inside the cage telling him that he was clear to enter. Upon trying the main entrance and finding it locked he opened with his keys.
After walking inside Martin reported having been immediately blinded by a projectile comprised of what he believed at the time was mud. He then reported having been shoved to ground by the mandrill running out of the cage. Disturbingly he and several other witness report the creature having been laughing maniacally.
After getting up and wiping the mess from his face, Martin immediately stormed out of the cage and announced loudly that he was quitting and demanded someone else clean up the mess. Employment termination was granted however he was forced to stay due to concern over exposure to non-human biological agents.
Abnormalities immediately began to surface after exposure despite having had time to calm down and clean his face Martin became even angrier. Physical anomalies began to surface and despite having washed a distinctive simian scent began to linger around his person.
Upon becoming violent Martin was released into our custody and has been kept under heavy security. Subject is kept in a sealed reinforced Plexiglas containment to prevent any blood, saliva or other possibly contagious elements from leaking.
Subject has become very strong and is known to become aggressive without provocation. Subject still retains the ability to talk albeit in short frantic bursts. Thoughts are often disconnected and range between conspiratorially theories of how humans are all secretly monkeys who were shaved by nefarious aliens to requests for the staff to play songs by “The Sex Pistols”.
The original mandrill specimen has not been recovered however it was reported that pedestrians were verbally harassed by what they described as an “exceptionally hairy dog faced man” swinging from the cables on the Brooklyn bridge heading towards Manhattan.
Recapture of the original specimen is of the utmost importance.
