He wants a prehispanic tattoo and after some choices he accorded on a Jaguar Knight Warrior design. Curiously I heard about people who wants or already made tattoos using my drawings but honestly I never saw one before, hope this time I can finally see one.
On the lost ages of the Aztec Empire the Jaguar Knights were easily recognize of because the feral outfit using the skin of the Ocelot god Tezcatlipoca to bring them victory. The military position usually comes with linage & courage on the battlefield and number of taken enemies.
The headquarters of the Eagle & jaguar warriors were at side of the Great Templo Mayor, the most sacred and highest temple of Tenochtitlan, the Aztec city.
As a combat forces some antique codes says they did meditate even for many days without food or water just waiting the opportunity to strike their enemies.
It´s supposed those elite warriors destroyed almost 80% of Spaniard forces from the killed conquers before the destruction of the Aztec Empire.

Tezcatlipoca? Wasn't he "lord of the smoking mirror" or somesuch? A trickster god, as I recall, rather reminiscent of the Norse Loki-an odd choice for a warrior's patron, although if one was going for stealth I guess he'd be a fitting one.
Then again, I'm Costa Rican, and I don't even think we HAD gods, just bananas, so who am I to talk? Heh.

Quiubas!
¿Costa Rica?

good job, an imposing foe for any conquistador.
you have to admire the sheer amount of balls the spanish must have had.
far from home, under supplied, tons of jungle, a pissed off native empire trying to kill them, 80% of their guys lying dead in the jungle or on an Aztec altar.
They still managed to rally the tribes the Aztecs oppressed and overthrow them.
brutal yes
greedy hell yes
but to pull something like that off against an enemy like that, you have to have something more than just steel and gunpowder to back you up...
gah now I got a furry version in my head. spanish wolves against the jaguar like aztecs

So ironic, right? Hundred years ago in Greece they had swords of steel but this was not the same on this side, even if the gold forge was a fact. I just wonder what could be if the spaniard conquers did could had a hand to hand combat without pistols or cannons.
And it sounds tempting that furry version of yours, he, he...

I rant now.
they would have, it just would have taken longer, and been bloodier. It was a cultural war, the Spaniards for all their faults represented the best and worst of western culture at the time.
Same for the aztecs, they repre4sented the best and worst of Southern Native American culture (Northern Native Americans were a different culture entirely)
aztec culture while cool in it's own right the contrasts were too vast for them to have gotten along. The Spaniards offered the natives of south america a new way of life. take their gods as an example
Aztec: you give up your life for the gods, to placate them, so they bless us and do not destroy us.
Spanish: god died for you and rose again, he loves us all, even if we do things he doesn't like, and even if he has to be stern at times.
which would you pick?
the Aztec's entire empire was built on the subjugation of other jungle tribes.
The Spanish fresh from their final victory in the Reconquesta, broke the Aztec myth of invincibility, when they did all the tribes rose up against the aztecs.
The Spanish may have had greed as their motivation, but they were the catalyst for a change that had to happen sooner or later. Even if they had been expelled by the empire, the empire's aura of invincibility would have still been destroyed. But without the Spanish to unite them, the tribes would have dissolved into infighting again once the Aztecs were gone.
don't forget disease both sides were afflicted by each other, the Aztecs discovered smallpox and measles, the Spanish discovered the STD.
in hand to hand the Aztecs were zealots and vast in number, their weapons though crude were effective in the hands of a skilled user.
The Spanish were equipped with steel swords and armor and usually only got of a single volley before having to go at it in hand to hand anyways.
the aztecs learned to aim for the face or the unprotected joints of the spanish, and the aztec armor was little more than cotton, it could deflect blunt weapons but not a good sword.
in terms of fighting skill they were equal
their troops were roughly equals
but in tactical experance and mind set they were not
The Aztecs had been bullying other tribes for the prior hundred and fifty years, and their methods reflected that, hit them hard, no need for strategy, numbers and a warrior's personal glory were what won battles.
for every awesome bad ass jaguar they had a hundred or so slaves with clubs and no armor that would run if the guy keeping them in line died.
The Spanish make me think of wolves because they fought like them, they fought like a well disciplined pack of soldiers, each looking out for the guy on his left and his right.
While the Aztecs each competed to see who could capture the most sacrifices and thus improve his station.
The Spaniards fought for a greater cause (be it god, gold, or adventure) and put personal rivalry aside when battle came.
Sure they haggled and fought over the gold and native women when it was over, but in battle they put it all aside and fought as one.
western armies still do that today, and have been doing it ever since Sparta.

heh had to do research for a story of my own on worldwide military methods, that's how I figured it out.
"In the various states of society, armies are recruited from very different motives. Barbarians are urged by the love of war; the citizens of a free republic may be prompted by a principle of duty; the subjects, or at least the nobles, of a monarchy, are animated by a sentiment of honor; but the timid and luxurious inhabitants of a declining empire must be allured into the service by the hopes of profit, or compelled by the dread of punishment".
where do you think the aztecs fit on that scale.
Their empire was going to die one way or another, they built their nation, literally, on the blood, bones, and broken bodies of other tribes. The Spaniards just lit a two thousand year old powder keg, and collected the gold that flew out.
