Endless Realms bestiary - Aethir Soldier
Bestiary artwork for Endless Realms, a D&D-like "pen and paper" fantasy RPG I'm working for.
Counterpoint to the demonic Koros Warrior I did, here's the angel that makes up the bulk of the Aethir fighting force - the art director asked for a 4-armed warrior with wings of light and armour in white, gold, and green. While the Koros warrior feels more like a breathing, growing creature with natural armour, I wanted the angel soldier to feel more inorganic.

lol, lawful good can be pretty surprisingly hardcore :b Although, it's funny, I'm playing a lawful neutral character, but I basically feel like I'm playing lawful good half the time :b I just specifically picked a lawful neutral over lawful good because I knew the rest of the party would probably all play chaotic neutral :b Didn't want to clash too badly.
I played one Paladin, and it was a pain because, if I just slew the damned evil tyrant even if he surrendered. problem solved but nooooo, that's evil and your actions are already questionable...blah. blah, blah, rules! Sadly, my other chars would have issues with this angelic being....no, not issues..subscriptions
How a War forged would have handled this situation:
Assessment: Halberd/Shield and Twin Falchions... Flying combatant, Armored, Lithe...
Recommended approach: Keep at distance using ranged weapons... Or Force combatant into confined spaces; Urban/Underground ideal
Tactical maneuvers: Flank with squad from at least three directions, keep sun behind Squad, disable Halberd arm and force combatant to fight up close or retreat....
Execute....
Nice looking angel regardless :3

Oh, that's really pretty! And pretty badass! I particularly like the design of its halberd. One of these fellows is intimidating, so a legion would probably end a war just by stepping out in full regalia! It reminds me of a heavenly version of the armored sentinels from Dark Souls 2. All lithe and tall and such.
I think your angelic creatures are the ones I most look forward to seeing. They're always so neat :)

Thanks so much, I appreciate it :) I've really had to work on improving my weapon/armour skills working on Endless Realms >_> XD
And yes, I thought of Dark Souls 2, as well! One thing I actually didn't like was how so many of the bosses just seemed like "armoured dudes" - they had cool designs and stuff, but weren't nearly as varied as Dark Souls 1 in my opinion - but since my idea for this one was sort of like a living unstoppable suit of armour, it was the perfect inspiration, heh.
Thanks again, it's really encouraging to hear :)

Haha I had the same complaint! I also thought Dark Souls was harder and spookier, so I liked it a bit more. Excited for the third!
Anyway, though, you can easily track your improvement in fantasy staples through your gallery! Excited to see everything new you make :)
