He could tell something was wrong. It had been several months since the two of them knew each other. The mongoose was very sensitive and the wild dog pretty obvious and clear with his behaviour, making it a lot easier for Mick to understand him.
Eli was laying on the ground, still and silent. He hadn't moved for hours. The mongoose approached him carefully.
“What's wrong?” He asked timidly, lowering both his ears and sitting next to him.
“Nothing.” Sighed the wild dog without moving.
But Mick new better. He kept silent and moved closer to the canine, leaning softly against his shoulder.
“I'm confused.” Replied after a while the wild dog. “Everybody leaves me and hates me.”
“But I love you.” Affirmed Mick hopefully.
“I know.” Replied Eli, looking annoyed, after stretching and assuming a sitting pose. “And that's the problem.” He stated afterwards.

If you are wondering, Eli loves Mick too. It's just, it takes him time to accept that. Mick wouldn't waste all this time on him otherwise.
Also tomorrow is my birthday. yey.
