I already posted a sketch of her before this, but let me reiterate on this super old character.
Back when I was super disasstisfied, I started changing a lot of things about her in order to shift her into the direction I felt really gave her more of a story. I shrunk her size, made her appearance more animal-like, and really tried to tie down a very recognizable color scheme and silhouette, while also incorporating more recognizable native american accessories in order to really tie her into a culture that both impacts her lineage, backstory, and looks... and gives me a chance to finally pay homage to a culture I've been introduced too at a young age.
Anyway, to keep strong respect to the Cherokee culture (since I'm basing her lineage directly from them), I will be tackling more research into the symbols of clothing, necklaces, face marks, etc. I don't just want to throw a headdress on Lulu and call it a day; I want to really go deeper into the artifacts and try and tie in more lore in order to keep things tasteful and give her character a stronger stance. For the moment, though, I went with the basic ideology of turquoise and beadwork; it'll work as a placeholder for now.
She's still not quite exactly in that 'finalized' phase, but she's very close. I'm working very hard on her back story, as well as the figures who pose great importance in her life. I'm researching into some old folk lore characters, in order to take some inspiration from their stories, but I also want to experiment with if I can get away with combining the traditional stories with other different cultures. We'll see how it goes as time goes on.
Anyway! Have Lulu!
