FULLVIEW IF YOU DARE
Done for the EF this year. I cannot go to it, but Ter will bring it to the artshow so I can sell it there. It's the first pic of Yedaji. I finished it today. Took me about 20 hours. My first graphit pic with semi-realistic fur, I ever made. I have to say, that it's not completly graphit, I took a light ocre for the background to give the pic more depth. I'm rather proud on it, although there are stil a few minor anatomy mistakes. And the skull in his hand is a mountain lion.
I made it not only for the EF. It was influenced by a documentary film I saw a few weeks ago. It won't get out of my head. The film was about the Krüger national park and some private national parks in south afrika. And about the hunting-tourism. Rich people pay more than 5000 dollars to kill lions or cheetahs. I still have these pictures in my head and they make me angry, so freakin' angry. I will take a weapon and do the same they did with the lions, hunt them, shoot them and let them bleed to death.
The saddest pic is the pic of a lioness, grown up in a cage, in the private national park. She had cubs and only a short while before the hunter killed her, they opened the door to let her run. But she didn't want to leave her cubs. And then the hunter killed her, not with a shoot in the head, no, it would make nasty holes in her head, he shoot very often and than let her bleed to death. I don't want to judge someone, but thoose people call themselves animal-right activists and do such terrible things.
But these topic is more difficult than it appear at first. I'm to tired to tell everything, but maybe my words show you the reason for this pic.
