It actually does mimic the London map.
Though other cities in the world have used Harry Beck's design as a blue print for other rapid transit systems which is true, the picture above matches the London Underground map in terms of how it treated non interchange and interchange stations. The large white circles with black outlines of that design is most commonly seen on that map and I should know, I'm memorised the entire map. (Don't mean to brag or anything, I'm just saying that I've seen it enough times to notice the designs of each type of station etc.)
