Queen Jasiri posing with the royal scepter for a picture on her coronation. Later, when she was reviewing the pictures, she was pissed that a small pest decided to include himself in the picture. No mice in the castle, no mice at the coronation. Was that too much to ask?
(Un)fortunately, (depending on your point of view) this wouldn't be the last trouble she had from that pest.
---
Because why not create a character sorta inspired by mashing up the lion and thorn story with the lion and the mouse story. Many years ago, stuff happened and a mouse removed a thorn a lion king's paw. The grateful King Leo invited that mouse and their family to live in the castle forevermore as friends to the throne.
And all was pretty great from then on. Bunch of tiny mice running around a castle, doing small jobs, advising the king of things that were beneath his sight. It was an era of peace and prosperity.
Until the elderly king died.
With no heirs, his young bride took over as queen.
And one of her first orders of business was to firmly evict the mice. She had never understood why the king had been so fond of them and personally found it creepy to always have them scurrying underfoot.
And for the most part, they obediently left.
But the little pest refused. Why, he had been born in the castle and he wouldn't give up without making a nuisance of himself. If the service that got them a position at the castle was removing a thorn and they were being kicked out, he would reinsert the thorn! Metaphorically speaking. He didn't know where the actual, original thorn was. He would be a tiny irritant! Or his name wasn't Leopold Thorn Mouse.
Well, it wasn't. The T actually stands for The.
---
That was roughly 100% more backstory than was strictly necessary for a bunch of pictures of a mouse being a pain in the ass at a lioness.
