Late, but not soo late as to render it unseasonable, hell I still have a dec up, but that is another story.
I always preferred the idea that Santa used magic to make toys and that the elves were largely there for R&D, logistics and bureaucracy. There is something about an omnipotent demigod living under the arctic ice, forging presents in a magical kiln and dispatching them with an army of worm-holing minions, that appeals to me deeply. I like to think that every year, around August, Santa awakewns from the deep sleep to find a list on his forge from The All-Seeing One. Santa then spends the next months warming up the crucible as he observes the doings of man, summoning armies of elves riding atop their infernal reindeer, and by Christmas his harvest begins. All the pure of heart are blessed with a gift of love, the evil ones pray for his mercy, that he might spare them a visit from his greatest and most vile servant, Krampus. The Horror that is wrought surpasses description by the tongues of man.
That or he is a jolly old man that likes to be kind. What do I know?
