The Showoffs - Cure (story included)
It was the roughest night she had ever weathered.
From the first day she'd been diagnosed, Rachel was good about keeping her BPD in check. She consistently took her medication and, barring it's effectiveness, kept her circle of friends close should she ever need a shoulder to cry on. She was as responsible as she could be, and yet, some days it made her feel like she wasn't a fully-functioning adult. The bear didn't want to have to be emotionally babysat like a child by others forever, and despite their protests, she often urged her friends to go on with their days when they called to check in on her. As time went on, she was convinced she could take care of herself.
But, never let it be said that her memory was flawless. Even with the best of her ability, she would have the occasional lapse and have to be reminded to take said medication. It was only inevitable that the day would come where she would irresponsibly leave her bag in a place she could not reach it when she needed it most.
Flipping old facebook photos was never a good option for her. Like a fool, Rachel looked back to the few photos of her high-school years, and with them they brought a proverbial flood of bad memories. She thought back to how callously she had treated her "friends", how poorly she had treated her own body, how complacent she was to live like a shut-in the rest of her life...
The intrusive thoughts ate away at her until she was huddled around her knees, in tears. If she had her meds, she could have shrugged the memories away, but, having left them in Josh's car, and foolishly thought she could make it one day without them, all she wanted to do was curl up and die.
As if fate was against her, Josh's club was particularly packed that night, and all of Rachel's attempts to call him ended in failure.
She was desperate. There was only one way to quell these thoughts before they drove her to leap from her balcony...
After finally getting a moment to himself, Josh dropped everything and raced home. When he arrived to an unmoving Rachel on the couch, he feared the worst, but thankfully, he was greeted with a rather slurred, "Heeeeeeyyyyy Joshieeeeee~!"
The peacock couldn't believe it. Rachel, the girl who hadn't touched a drop of alcohol since her sister's wedding, was drunk off her ass. With a sigh of both relief and exasperation, he grabbed his phone and called up the one person willing to help with this mess...
The following hangover was almost as bad as the episode. Almost. Rachel begrudgingly awoke to the scent of smoke and grease. Before she could even rise off the couch, her bandmate appeared with an enormous bacon sandwich and a glass of alka-seltzer, both of which she shoved into Rachel's lap, "I know ya like it burnt." she greeted.
The lioness explained the night's events, much to the bear's disbelief, "You...stayed here all night?"
"Course I did! I cannae have ya all moany and groany." said Jackie, pulling the ursine into a hug, "Ya had us worried there, Rach'...I told ya to call if ya ever needed me..."
"I...I-I didn't wanna bother you..."
"Ya never do."
With wonderful people like Josh and Jackie in her life, Rachel always wondered why she ever let herself get so upset in the first place. After all, with them around, life couldn't possibly be that bad.

(And apologies for any misrepresentation of BPD in this story. There's only so much I can learn from Google.)
