Beautiful story. I do wonder what the main religions in the world say about animals and afterlife. I guess the religions that feature reincarnation as another animal are the kindest towards all living things. They don't make too sharp difference between human and other animals.

I enjoyed this very much. It is kinda light, but I guess you didn't want it to be too heavy. Some of the themes would have allowed a heart-wrecking treatment, after all. So, taking it light is not necessarily a bad thing. Well written.
