Just one of those days where I decide to start walking and see where I end up.

Marv was several times older than the universe by the time he finally died, just after seeing God's Final Message (a delightfully vague number, as opposed to his lingering on Frogstar World B, which had a quite definite value). But time is bunk after all, so who cares?
I don't mind telling you, you are the first person I've met on these boards who can even carry a Hitch-hiker's thread even this far.
(goes to put "Journey Of The Sorcerer" on the record player and waits for your reply)

You hum an opening note? Not the opening bar or the opening phrase, but the opening *note*?
That almost sounds akin to walking up to someone and saying softly over and over "Blood. Blood. Blood. Blood. Blood."
The UK version of the film seems to have been presented with a truncated, orchestrated version of "Sorcerer" accopanying a faithful redux of a typical H2G2 episode, whereas the American release had a big-assed montage of dolphins doing aquarium tricks, with an over-the-top Broadway-sounding, choral rendition of "So Long And Thanks For All The Fish", with lyrics by Mr. D. Adams.
For some reason "Fish" was for me the best book of the series.

Well it's not like anyone ever asks why I hum just that note, and that's rather annoying in itself.
Would it be too much to say I enjoyed the opening Dolphin bit? The movie itself as a matter of fact, just really liked it.
And my fave is LTUAE, cheers me up no matter what my mood.

The Dolphin opening was enjoyable. How the title fades in through all those bubbles with that musical buildup, and then the obviously Adamsesque lyrics:
"So the world's going to be destroyed.
There's no use getting all annoyed."
Doug never hid his contempt for most of modern society, and that song was a wonderfullu upbeat bird-flip at what's become of us.
LU&E is fun, as is the whole arc. Personal tastes hold ultimate dictation of preference, of course.

Well, that's one of the things I love about him so much. He's just so chipper in his hating of things :)
Personal taste always has something to do with it, no doubt about it. I actually didn't care much for LTUAE at first, thought it was much too complicated. But it's certainly grown on me over time, and that's the one I tend to think of when I think of the series (from Zaphod's drinking to the Longest Party in the Universe to all things Bistromath).
