The heroines??? Of my little group of stories *shrugs* nonetheless they play an important role and shall appear with other Yokai both from game/anime and from Japanese folklore.
1. Ren the Kappa/Walkappa Ren is a Japanese name meaning water lily. Ren is a bit of a tomboy, but rather than swimming she spends her time learning the arts of medicine that ancient Kappa once took part in. She's often times exasperated by her fellow Kappas attitudes and the males obessions with mermaids. She will one day become more lady like in addition to becoming a Appak along with some other changes.
2. Aki the Kamainu (think same thing as Komasan) Aki is Japanese for Autumn, Bright, or Sparkle. She was one of triplets (odd seeing as Kamainus come in pairs typically) so she struck out to find someone else like her. Her own kind provided little guidance, but once in the cities she found a new drive. She does one day become a more Komane like creature (I'm debating colors on her still so changes are possible here).
3. Paru the Nekomata (think Jibanyan) her name is Japanese for Pearl. In life Paru was a cat trained to steal. A pearl ring tied around her collar to act as bait. Once someone got close. Paru would take their wallet. Wallet to owner meant food, no wallet, no food. So she didn't KNOW she was doing anything wrong. She came to be an Yokai after someone who she attempted to steal from caught up and took the rage out on the small Calico. She one day fuses with her pearl ring to become a pearled nekomata (or pearlyan if you must).
4. Yoake the Kitsune (or Kyubi) her name is Japanese for Dawn or Daybreak. Yoake has lived a long time, as all nine tailed foxes have, and became very cynical and bitter. She's lived through so much and thought she had seen it all. She wandered between city and forest helping or causing trouble based solely on her mood, but a trip to a city yielded something she didn't expect...something new. She traded her purple jade bead necklace for a plain pair of dice she made into earrings....wonder why....
5. Kasumi the Sunekosuri (a spirit dog that rubs up against you in the rain, she's related to the Pupsicle family) and Kasumi is a Japanese name that means Mist. Kasumi is the Yokai that is an unsettling annoyance more than anything to humans. When it rains she tries to follow them home to find a warm place to stay, but if they even catch a glimpse of her they panic or chase her off. Something about dark dogs being bad luck to humans. Kasumi, however, does find herself becoming someone else's good luck charm, whether she knows it or not. She gets a hold of a storm scarf and fuses with it. She's no longer a dog following someone home in the rain. She's the reason its raining cats and dogs....and the reason cats, dogs, and kids bring in muddy foot prints everywhere!!!
