This is a sequel to an old, old collage of mine, called Together: http://nishi.deviantart.com/art/Together-19612716
Full size: http://www.deviantart.com/download/.....n_by_nishi.png
I like this one better, it's a lot more mature. :D I think just about everything in it is there for a good reason this time - because it means something to me. I love all the different feelings and ideas I come by, and I wanted to piece them together so they can coexist as one. :3
I can't really say any of this belongs to me - I drew and made everything, but even the characters or ideas that or mine wouldn't be there if it weren't for what I grew up around or who I met. (: Friends, video games, books, cartoons - everything comes from something else.
I incorporated 12 different school projects my previous semester (ceramics and various printmaking projects.) I was happy to make this a multi-media collage, even if it's not very obvious.
I've wanted to give all these ideas their own image, but I rarely ever got to it - so I pursued this as a way to bring together all these little pictures in my head again, like I did last time. (:

And he's such a flirt too!
...
everyone else noticed, right?
Pretending to be a card fan so that Haseo would send him lots of emails...
Or telling him about that time where he was playing sumo and was embarrassed being nearly naked...
Or by falling on top of Haseo the first time they meet... and then jumping on top of him in the second game. ;P
...I can read signs! D:<

Ahhh~!
So very simple yet cute~ <3!
I appreciate being squeezed into your collage of important things and people, especially with such a wingy-eared orange fellow >3
I just realized something!
What happens when chocolate and orange meet~?

Dang, Oxnard! What isn't in this collage? Not only do you have a myriad of characters and colors, but I believe there are also past works of yours spliced into this piece as well. *points to lower, right corner*
This piece, along with its predecessor, are quite exciting in that they are like fun, scavenger hunts. You quite honestly can't get the whole concept of either piece without actually giving the work a good moment of your time. For me, such a thing really brings the picture to life as I mentally put together how all these characters inter-twine with one another in a special world all their own.
On that note, I'm surprised to read your thoughts on everything you drew here. You're quite honest in mentioning how a large portion of all involved are concepts that have inspired you and/or are parts of how you feel. I've often felt the same way when I do my writing. If anyone were to sit me down and ask me about ANY of my charactersm, or settings, I could give a detailed story as to who, or what, inspired it. Though, like you, I am the only one who could ever take a mixture of concepts and thoughts like that and turn it into something creatively cohesive.
But, to the point, this is an awesome pic, Oxnard! I also couldn't help but *cush* when I saw my role in the image, too. I'm glad to be a part of such a wonderful, artistic world. :)

Hehe, I realized after I finished that I didn't have my motto "Good times!" in it... but I kind of like The End being the big, main words in it. :3 And also, it's kind of a collection of good times! Even if certain scenes or events are sad or something, I was still glad for it, so the whole thing is kinda like "Good times" in itself without saying it. :B
And thanks! :3 I think I'm good at sneaky hidden stuff like like this, since I've made so many collages, but only a few digitally. It's fun to do so much, even if people will only understand parts... and even if a lot of people might not even notice they're in there! I guess that's usually because of symbolism, or some other thing I do that makes it less obvious. :B
I'm glad you could relate to the that too! I know a lot of people take things from real life, even when characters and stories of theirs are things they all made up on their own, it still has to come from something, I'd think. Like even Dr. Seuss, who made up tons of really creative characters and words, at least got the idea that he could make up his own wonderful words and world from someone. (: It might be hard to do, but it's fun to recognize what makes you you!
And thanks! :3 I definitely had to include you! I would have been missing an important friend if I didn't have you, I wouldn't have made a whole, fun comic series that really helped kinda put my mind to rest about some things, and getting into reading your stories and talk to you about so many things was awesome too! I really haven't done that in so long, and it's something I want to remember when I look back on this. :3 I'm glad you're there too.

*Cush-Cush* Aww, I don't know what to say, Oxnard. Though, I believe the simplest thing I can reply is "Ditto!" Relating to your work really has opened my mind to a lot of things I never thought about or considered before. Your perspective on life and emotion is just so original and unlike anything I've experienced that I can't help but look forward to seeing what you are up to next.
Kazootles! Each time I look at this I find something else. Considering I use a magnifier window at 3x magnification, you'd think I'd be able to catch it all in one good run. I honestly don't know how you do it. I'm creative, but not to the degree where I could put so many subtle nuances into such unique, blending points. If I could inquire, how long did it take you to do this?
I really have to thank you for getting me to think about my inspirations again. All day I've been putting together envelopes to ship to Publishing Agents and, all the while, I've been mentally looking back at what got me to this point. Hard to imagine how life has allowed me to create such a fascinating universe. I can hardly wait to see what future people and events have in store for my world of creativity?
Oh, on a fun note, have you ever watched the anime series "Neon Genesis Evangelion?" It's a whacked out show, but it has a very interesting point that shows up in the latter episodes about one's perception and how others perceive you. Your collage reminds me of the aspect of showing one's self for who they are. It's from all of this that every person you meet creates their own vision of who you are. So, at least accordingly to Evangelion, you exist in many forms based on Nishi to Nishi, Nishi to Yosh-E-O, Nishi to Winged-Ham-Ham, etc.
Pretty cool, eh? *Looks up* Uh, sorry for the long comment. :) *cush-cush* *cush-cush* I have gotten carried away yet again. *cush-cush*

Hehe, thank you! :3 3x magnified? How cool! :3 I'm sure that's much better for your eyes. :D And I've been prepping this for months. Like I mentioned, 12 pictures here were projects I did in school - 9 plates and 3 prints, both took a couple weeks in school - and hours outside of school too. Some parts of these are previous art projects, which took a couple hours each, and then the past 4 weeks or so of winter vacation I've been finally arranging it all together in this collage, now that school's over and the projects are done, and just finished yesterday. I don't think I can really keep track of the hours at this point. @.@
Too cool about the publishing thing too! :D Good to see my writing pal's always on the move. :D I'm sure it'll be super neat to see whatever comes your way next! Hehe. :3
And oh oh! I haven't watched but you and my other pals do - and that sounds like an awesome idea too! :3 It's kind of like what we've talked about in my lit class this semester - infinite realities. :3 Everyone has their own reality and their own truth, each perspective leads to a different world, and all the different worlds and ideas in our minds are just like different possibly realities too! Which, I guess by that idea means that reality is just in our head. :B I dunno, it's just an idea that i thought was really neat. :3 And I don't know if you played Sonic Adventure, but I think that was a neat game that represented the idea, because each character is in the same story, but they didn't match up what everyone was saying in each scene exactly, even if the outcome was pretty much the same. With all the confusions and misunderstandings and judgments in our world, I think I could believe something like that. :B I'm glad NGE covers it too!
No sweat about comments either. :D

I so envy you for being able to take a Lit class that is as deep as that, Oxnard. Kazootles! I've had TONS of English-themed courses and NONE of them even touched on the concept of alternate / perceived realities. I could only imagine the discussions you had in class in regard to it, too. That's the fun thing about collegiate work over grade school. In college, professors LOVE to have their topics elaborated upon. Well, all those who teach anything not involving Mathamatics. Those ones I've found have their own "special" realities that you either live in, or go down in flames. :)
You know, I never did get to play "Sonic Adventure." Though, I think my friend has it. That's for the DS, right?
Although I never got to see much of Sonic Adventure, if any, I do know a game that plays the concept we are discussing quite well. Have you ever had the chance to try "Eternal Darkness" for the Game Cube? My pen pal in New York and I were obsessed with it for awhile and, to be honest, I paid homage to it in that story you were so kind to review for me. Though, not until a bit later on.
However, back on Eternal Darkness, it was awesome how you actually chose the god / ancient you went up against. The story played out the same, with the exception of when you got key runes and a few FMV's. Though, the real kicker came if you beat the game three times through while taking out a different god / ancient each time. Doing so added a "special" ending where you found out the imprisoned god actually had the power to "Intertwine" realities and, in doing so, caused the demise of all three of his enemies. Freaky.

Hehe, it was really a neat class! I thought it was the weirdest thing, but he also mentioned masks that people wear, and different sides of the same person coexisting in stories. I think I was giggling to myself a lot because it was hard to believe he was mentioning a lot of the ideas I had been working on for weeks in the Circle comics you inspired me to do! There were two stories we read that revolved around the idea, but I think Kafka (known for his depressing work, Metamorphosis?) was the main guy that related to most of those ideas. I don't know, it was really weird, but I was really happy and amazed that I could 100% relate to what he was talking about in class. (:
Sonic Adventure was his first Non-PC 3D game, for the Dream Cast years ago. There's Sonic Adventure 2 for the GameCube nowadays though, but the cut scenes are exactly the same this time around. :B Eternal Darkness I haven't played or really heard of either, but I'm glad we both still understand the concept. :3 It's neat that ended up inspiring your story too! :3 I think this is why I love video games - they can still have lots of deep stories and ideas like books, but they're visual like movies, have all sorts of music and songs in em, and they're totally interactive since it's a game. :D I've always thought they were like an ultimate blend of media... and I'm really glad some parts are deep enough to enjoy like we've discussed. :3
I love game realities like that too! It's so cool! :3 Playing it enough times to change the outcome, or get more into stories are definitely like multiple realities, and a lot of times you might not even think of that, or even do what you have to in the game to reach that point! :3 And on top of all that, with all the different people playing the game, the game's reality holding multiple realities is also twisted by the reality of the person playing it! (: Maybe I've said reality too many times to make sense... I'll stop now and get myself a reality check. B-)

<LoL!> I need a reality check more times than I can count. These usually come from my wife who offers to "translate" me or reminds me that not everyone is in synch with "Matt's world." It's kind of odd to think about in that sense to. For me, I feel most happy when I can share as much about myself with those around me and, in doing so, incorporate people into my world. However, on the other side of that coin, I can often come off as being a very egocentric individual. I guess what I'm saying here is that it is difficult to know how to properly project one's sense of reality onto others as, to them, the realities of you they see can either be welcoming, neutral, or hostile. Hmm.
Since this subject is so fun, I've got to ask if you have ever played "Chrono Trigger" for the SNES, PSX, or Nintendo DS? If so, that's another game that definately plays on alternate realities and senses. First off, your mission is ultimately to stop a vile monster from destroying the world in the year 1999 through the use of time travel. One time period you get to visit is the future after the monster levels the world. However, at one point in the game, you can actually CHOOSE when you fight the last boss. This means that you can, in essence, change the outcome by defeating the villian during different points in the time stream or before other key events can happen. This allowed, depending on how one played the game, a possibility of many endings. The same applied to its "sequel," Chrono Cross.

Hehe, that's sweet of her. :3 I understand though - everyone has their own world and perception, and when you're trying to communicate to others, you want to both express exactly what you feel and how you see, and you want to also make it so your idea can reach the other person so they understand (at least I think that's what the point of communicating is.) But it can be hard to be ourselves and also be something that will be understood by others. :3
Maybe Yoshi's Island is the only game we've both played. 8D I've heard lots of CT but never played. :3 I guess it's like Back to the Future, and any move/story/game that involves time travel. Multiple realities existing, and you're effecting the reality you'll experience in the end of it all by confronting the other possible realities. :3 ...Or something. Time-travel plots are usually kinda confusing since it's all hypothetical. 8D

Agreed. There was a time where I wanted to utilize the concept of time travel in my stories. However, after seeing so many different ways it could work, along with the many paradox situation that can occur, I opted against it.
For a fun question on this matter, what is your take on the consequence of time travel? After taking in everything that's out there, I've come to accept the idea that, if you do travel in time, you can only alter that particular reality. This means that, even if you went back in time to stop yourself from doing something you yourself would never earn the benefits. The only one who would benefit from the time travel effect would be the you from the other reality.
A good example of this can be seen in Dragonball Z. When I watched the oh-so lovable, male soap opera, I really got into the Cell / Trunks saga. However, in it, Trunks came from the future to stop an enemy that went unchecked in the past that was anhilating his present day. In the end, he was able to help the Z warriors prevent the calamity from befalling their their timeline, but he still had to go back to his home reality and deal with the damage that his true existance had to endeur. However, from training with the Z warriors, he was able to put an end to the problem of his time with no problem. :)
As for video games, I think it's neat how neither of us seem to have matched on any other game to this point with the exception of "Yoshi's Island." It's a great learning experience to think of all good titles I accidentally missed along the way. Makes me want to go do some retro gaming.

Hehe, me too! :3 I guess a lot of people experiment with time travel - but when I tried to do that with one of my older yoshi comics, and make more comics from it, it got so complex that i never finished the whole thing. @.@ Still fun though. :3
I'm really not sure about the consequences of time travel... a lot of times it seems like there are paradoxes and then it doesn't make sense why anything happened, or where the time traveler would be during the time in between. Like with Zelda, Ocarina of time, there are a few of those, I think. Like a man tells you that you played a certain song when you were young, but you learn it seven years later, and then have to use it in the past - but it's most likely that you wouldn't have unless it were for him in the first place. Or like in the game, you were gone for seven years, everything bad happened, and then you made everything right - but then you go back in time at the end and live out those seven years... so then all the things that happened wouldn't have gone wrong, and it creates two different realities. It's still hard to say one's more true than the other.
I mainly watched the earlier Dragon Ball stuff. :3 But I remember them saving Goku with time travel, by giving him medicine for some heart disease he was going to die from. I still wonder what really happened in Trunks' future reality though in that case... and his world would be different, so would he come back with full memory of what's happened since his interference in time? It makes my brain feel like it's choking when I try to think about stuff like that. 8D
Hurray for retro games at least! :3

How very interesting, Oxnard. It's been way too long since I've played through Ocarina of time. However, as you pointed out, there are some brain-busting paradoxes afoot in it. The ending being perhaps the biggest one of all. I mean, if you stopped Ganon as an adult, how can Link go back to the time when he was a kid without the events of the seven years of his dissapearance still playing out? Honestly, it would make a lot more sense if, after beating Ganon as an adult, Link came back and had one last showdown with Ganondorf as a kid. Doing so would've solved the issues of both timelines. *cush-cush* Head hurts *cush-cush*
On the same note, but different media source, have you ever watched "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure" and/or "Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey?" Both of those are laden with similar, Zelda-esque paradox situations. Most of which can be spotted when they are breaking everyone out of jail in the original movie and at the final concert scene in the sequel. *cush-cush* Head hurting more. *cush-cush* *cush-cush*
Okay, I seek relief by asking you about your Yoshi comics in which you performed time travelling escapades. Have you ever posted any of these? If not, do you mind sharing what they were about? Yoshi in time travel interests me.

Hehe, yeah! :3 In the end, Link goes to meet Zelda, and that's all. At the end of the game, everything is at was before he left for adulthood, but Zelda's still at the castle - it makes me wonder if she came back for some reason, or if he returned to a different place in time. And what's going to happen with Ganon in that reality? You have a good answer for solving it though! :3
I saw part of that movie, but not enough to know anything plot-wise. :B Maybe it's just impossible to please us with time travel. 8D
Yoshi time travel story coming up... but it's really really long:
My original story was just yoshies getting trapped on a floating island. Each one was given a special jewel just before it happened, and while they're looking for an escape, they disappear one by one. Eventually there are just two yoshis left. One is the heroine, the other is a robot. A third yoshi makes an appearance - she faked her disappearance and was taking all the other jewels the others had, because the jewels would end up powering the robot yoshi in the future, and he would end up defeating her.
The yoshi robot was actually from the future, and built by the heroine from when she grew up, who sent him into the past to save her from the yoshi on that island.
Anyways, the robot yoshi came back to the future (after his creator sent him there) and he defeated the psychic yoshi, but was destroyed in the process too.
As if that's not confusing enough, the evil yoshi was psychic and knew he would defeat her, so she tried to stop him early, but failed. She was psychic because her "soul" or something knew she was defeated in the future, and after she was defeated, that soul traveled even further in time, and possessed the yoshi (villain) as a child, which is what made her psychic in the first place. So she was living with two minds the whole time or something?
On top of that, I never wrote or drew this story, the saved yoshi heroine discovers her saved friends after that fight between the robot and villain yoshi. Then, that heroine uses the jewels that powered the robot to possess herself in his form and travel to the past, to stop that villain yoshi's soul from doing any damage in the future.
Were you able to follow any of that? D: Alright well here's the end: the heroine is able to retrieve that yoshi's soul and bring it back to the future, before it infects the yoshi villain as a child. I think the soul ends up withdrawing from corruption somehow, and then it makes it so the whole story I slaved over never even happened in the first place. I think that's what inspired me not to even bother finishing it.
There were two other side stories too, but it was a comic and a written story I never finished and probably don't have around.
Well! That might take a couple days, but there you go. 8D

*blinks* Whoa! The depth and time travel elements you just said there were something else. Though, I do think I follow what you were going for. Let me see if I got it.
In normal time, the heroine builds a robot that ends up being the demise of all in the future. So, to fix it, she goes back in time to stop the robot from being built. However, in the process, someone comes along who actually wants the calamity to happen and, thus, runs interference. This means her initial attempt at saving the future is foiled and she has to try again-and-again until she eventually is able to outwit the villian who is hellbent on ensuring the destruction of the heroine and all the other Yoshies.
Am I close?
For some reason, reading all that reminded me of three things. "Terminator," "Final Fantasy 1," and a mini-series that ran during the Disney show "Gargoyles."
The reason I thought Terminator is that a force from the future is trying to ensure the heroine is not able to stop the events from the past from happening. Simply put, keep her from being able to stop herself later.
With respect to Final Fantasy 1, the whole story focussed on an "infanite time loop" concept that only the Light Warriors (you) were able to finally break.
Lastly, the Gargoyles mini-series involved a character known as the Arch Mage who, through the power of an artifact known as the "Phoenix Gate," was able to go back in time and aid himself in order to prepare for a major battle he intended to win with resources only his past self could acquire through a series of events his future self would set in motion.
*Cush-Cush* Time travel is painful! Painful I tell you! Makes me glad I scrapped even considering the idea of using it. Though, all-in-all, I've got to give you kudos for the comic idea you had with the Yoshies. It would've been amusing to see how well people could've followed along. You certainly would've earned a number of interesting comments as it went about. :)

Hehe, I think I came up with it when I was 15-16, so it was just kinda simple good and evil stuff. 8D
You pretty much have the idea, just maybe switch the characters a bit: When she's an adult, the villain knew that the robot would be built and be the demise for herself in the future, so her soul went back in time after she was defeated, to possess herself as a child, so that she could defeat the robot when it travels into the past. Eventually the time comes where they're all trapped on the island, and she tries to defeat both the robot and its creator, but she failed at destroying either of them, so the future foes as planned and she's defeated.
And that's when the end comes, where they stop her soul from possessing herself as a child and makes it so nothing ever happened.
I think that's also a case of "if it weren't for the future, you wouldn't know something in the past" so it's just as bad as Zelda in that sense. 8D
And you're right! When I re-read it, I was totally thinking of Terminator. :3 It's neat you could point that out, hehehe. but yeah, time travel might bring lots of interesting ideas and plot elements... but it's really hard to make it really work out perfectly. I guess that's why they say we should all keep things simple. :B

Agreed. However, yet again, you bring up an interesting point by saying how it should be kept simple. Consider the following if you will...
You and I are both highly creative people. This means we are able to take ideas and run for miles-and-miles with them. However, at the same time, we are also highly educated, creative people. Because of this, I think you will agree that it is hard for individuals like us to not put thought into the complexities of time travel. Now, if I wasn't so educated and more simple minded, I likely wouldn't think twice about paradoxes or continuity errors. Rather, I would see it for being just another amusing show, movie, or game and be satisfied as is. The upside to this is that I'd probably really be hard core into time travel. However, the downside to this approach means I wouldn't appreciate the depth of the material as I wouldn't be inclined to analyze it from a creative and educated point-of-view. Not being able to appreciate a work beyond an experience, to me anyway, would mean I wouldn't be able to learn from the works of others. If I didn't learn from others work, my work would consequentially suffer by never developing from the learning experience.
Any thoughts?

Hehe, hey, you’re totally right! :3 When I first played and beat Zelda, I was in 5th-6th grade. I didn’t think at all about the time paradoxes, I just figured that’s how the story was, and thought it was neat how it worked out. :3 It’s only now that I really appreciated the plot and story for what it is, and notice the little parts of time travel that don’t really add up that were never brought up. Since then I’ve experimented with the idea as well, and try to develop an understanding of it, so now I can further comprehend the work of others. (: I wouldn’t have gotten that far if I just “kept everything simple”, that’s not how you grow! You have to challenge yourself and keep changing. :D As much as I appreciate simplicity, since I find a lot of flaws in my complexity, I’m glad we both try to experiment creatively, and try to further our understanding of the creativity of both our own work, and that of others! :D
I’d think that’s part of what makes it discuss these ideas. :3
Indeed. Heck, a giant example of growth comes from the whole process I went through getting my story ready to submit to publishing agents.
At first, I thought it was perfect. My finest work ever. Then, as I shared it with you and others, I realized errors that could result in it not being successful. So, to correct this, I went back and added some material to clear up confusion that I never thought existed. From here, as I researched getting published as a whole, I discovered what agents were looking for and knew that, if I was going to pitch the story, I had to sell it from a different angle than I originally intended. Finally, days before submitting, my wife came to me and informed me that, based on everything I was sharing with her, how another work of mine may be better suited as my "Introduction to the World" than this one. This work, despite being far from finished, would truly have more selling power as it correlates with my eye condition and the power to overcome it. Since my research has shown that, along with credentials, publishing agents love stories that have some life-impact. Because of this, once I get my last queries out, I am going to shift my attention entirely on writing that book so that, if I should get nothing but rejection letters, I can rebound with this tale.
The point of all this? If I didn't listen to you, my wife, and the research in front of me, I would've never thought to make the neccessary changes to give my first effort a fighting chance. Furthermore, I wouldn't know what to do in the meantime in the event that I receive nothing but rejection letters. This gives me a fighting spirit and makes me proud of how I seem to surround myself with brilliant minds who can always keep me looking on the up-and-up.
Oh, on a fun note, did you see what Graedius had to say? I had to call my wife in here to read that when I saw it. :) Kazootles!

Hehe, that’s a great example! :3 And a great little story too, I was wondering what was going on with your publishinngness. (: I’m glad you have a rebound idea that you’ve gained some real confidence in, so that you can definitely have faith in it incase things don’t go as you planned with your latest book submission. Sounds like success to me! :3 I think it’s great how it sounds like that all happened just before you submitted it too, some great things really happen at the last minute! I’m also happy you have others around you that can help you out with your goal, and even give you great ideas for new goals like your wife did! :3
I forget if I told you, but another friend of mine commented on looking over our long conversations from one of my Circle comics ( http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1761669/ ), and felt like he could relate to a lot of what we’d mentioned too, and I even got to talk to him a bit on a messenger about it as well. :3 I guess we can really talk up a storm, noticing or not! 8D

Dude! That's so awesome how our talks managed to inspire someone else! Even more so is how it happened so recently. I wasn't expecting the discussion dates to have taken place only a week ago. That's so cool how people are still finding inspiration through your "Circle Saga" to this day. Then again, it is a magnificent piece of exploratory and emotional work.
I really enjoy the opportunity to match wits with you, Oxnard. Thus far, you are only one of three people who are willing and/or capable of doing so. The other two being my wife and my sister's husband / my friend. You help keep me smart whilst I try to get myself back into the world of the gainfully employed or published. After all, just because I had a set back doesn't mean I should let my mind slip. :)

Hehe, I know! It’s a surprise. :3 It makes me even happier that I did all that, and that we got a chance to talk about lots of different things through it too! It’s nice to know we weren’t the only ones that would benefit from it. (:
And you help me out in the same way! I’ve had a nice long vacation from school, but it’s still nice to have gotten to talk with ya during my vacation, so I’m not a totally poor writer or thinker when I gotta go back. 8D It’ll help keep us both going! :D

See those boxes of characters in the top left corner? I was going to do something like that with my furry pals and was going to include you in there too, but then I found out not as many people knew each other as I thought, so the idea fell apart and I never put ya in.
I did this mainly for people that have had strong sort of relationships with me, and something memorable. :3 You're nice, but we haven't talked enough on a level that would make it so I'd include ya otherwise. Even if it sounds kind of rude of me to say, it's kind of rude of you to ask. :P

Hehe, thanks! :3 I've always loved down collages! It's fun to get out so much as once - they just take a lot longer when I do them digitally. :3 I'm sure it'd be fun to see what the result would be if we could both squeeze our brains out into one unique art piece - written or drawn! :3
