I've been doodling this guy for a long time. Never had a story to go with him until now though. He's based off of the Native American stories of the Wendigo. I still need to hash out some details of his story, but basically he's a conglomerate of many different animals. Resurrected from the remains of animals that perished in a fire that destroyed their home, he roams around the skeletal trees protecting the forest while it regrows.
I refer to him as 'he' but has no sex, so he's really an it. When anyone comes into the forest that doesn't belong there (humans, not other animals - unless they would further damage or hinder the forest's growth) he stalks them until they are too scared to stay in the forest. If they refuse to leave he kills them, leaving their bodies to fertilize the ground.

I don't think I've ever seen it, but now I'm gonna look into it. I was first introduced to them through Steven King's Pet Semetary. You have to read the book to get the explanation though, the movie doesn't say anything about it, which kind of makes you lose part of the plot.
