I've always wanted to know what song would be appropriate for her.

Yes, I understand that, heiress of the Dreemurr kingdom but I don't know why people say I'm strange for saying that she serves as a mystagogue to the player. At some points, she seems like the main character's conscience, even as she is the first boss character in the game. So if you kill her at the start, you've basically started down the road to madness.
See what I mean? Toriel is essentially your intuition, which guides you to learning how to love these adorable and not-so-adorable monsters to the best possible ending. That she ends up being the Queen and the teacher at the end indicates that ideally we should listen to the feminine voice inside telling us what to do. Of course, humans having free will, we often ignore or silence intuition.
Curiously, I've heard that if you take the Genocidal route on your first play-through, you will never ever see the Best ending

Yes, but that the two most recognizable characters of the game are goats whose names end in "el" make me wonder if the game's creator was trying to tell us something.
Goats were sacrifice animals in the Torah, the suffix means that Toriel and Asriel are "of God", and you have a choice of being the angelic Messiah or the Genocidist. I don't think that Undertale was the first but one could easily see Jewish influence in this game.
