Panel from my old comic series showing the big mechanical municipal transportation network bus gryphons.
They're big more or less sentient robots built to be flying taxicabs and shuttles for in atmosphere hops. Their chest cavity is slightly flexible and hollow, outfitted like a small bus with seats and harnesses. They can grab onto and climb and scamper around complex future cityscapes where a wheel based transport would have no hope of progressing.
They're horribly outdated by the time my story takes place, but some of them remain mentally functioning in back lots and salvage yards.
Think of these like a flying anthro version of a 60's era GMC 'fishbowl' bus. Iconic but primitive as far as robots go. They aren't very bright, though there are exceptions.
EmuComix never made it to strip #201, but if it had this would be about right for the story.
I love doing mechanical robot stuff like this, in case y'all ever wanted a commission of such!
