I didn't have much to work with here, at least the fire looks cool.

Correct--it was a ghost in Irish mythology who carried his head under his arm and rode around in a carriage made of human body parts, drawn by two headless horses. He would call the name of someone who is to die that night, and they'd die. Any who witnessed this were splashed with a bucket of blood, marked to die next.
The fire effect does look pretty bad ass. I always remember this fight taking a little longer than it should.
I can't remember at the top of my head if this guy would regenerate if you hit him with an instant-death weapon. I know I have almost killed a few strong enemies and, "Whoops", full healed him.

wasn't dullahan also the name of a boss (secret dungeon, toughest boss) in golden sun 2? anyway, all I remember about this guy was that he could cast lvl (was it ? or 4) pearl. and that he looked cool. you did a good job on him. I guess he was meant to be a minion of the reaper in FF6.
