As the embers of battle finally began to die down, the smoldering remains of a peaceful countryside reduced to ash were all that remained. Scores of damage had been done to the king's country, scarring his home for good. Yet, they survived. Corona survived the attack in no small part to the dragon sitting right behind him. Zera himself had rushed headlong into the thick of battle and defended what he cared about most, and his bravery sparked something deep within Grynn's soul.
He wasn't native to those lands... but the dragon had always made him feel welcomed and loved. When he fought in that battle, he caught his mind wandering back to Zera, his wellbeing, if he would survive the onslaught from the place he used to call home. That feeling of worry only grew until the battle ended, and when they met by the tree they promised to return to, the feline's mind became clear.
Corona was his home now, and Zera... he couldn't bear to see him wounded. A flutter of emotion washed over him as he leaned back against the still standing trunk, staring off into the distance. From that moment on, he would devote his life to the dragon and help right the wrongs of the world by his side.
