A pic taken years ago ( sure more that ten ) at the Tech museum Speyer (Ger) . It shows the Class 205 ( Nato code S 188 ) submarine U 9 . U-9 was on duty between 1967 to 1993 .

Small is relative . When you stand in front of it , it is looking not that small . But i have to agree with you it is for a sub very small , but this sub was an cost sub and that type had an very important task at his time . And btw it had 8 torpedo tubes so the firepower wasn`t that small .
Really? its not long ago as a saw an documentation film wich says that the Russians still have the bggest nuclear subs.... big like WWII battleships and their tonnage too... And for the crw they had sports activity rooms, swimming pools... o.-.O That were their "Second strike" subs after the western forces had started an nuclear first strike against the soviets...
