Back when she looked like a tank:

Seriously, no slim and trim look before Other M, she looks intimidating just standing there!
This pic of course is a two times bigger version of the pause screen in Super Metroid:

Just felt like doing it.

I think the only reason I ever found out how to do that is because I liked watching the titlescreen play-demos that popped up. one of them specifically shows you can destroy it.
I wonder if that's how they expected people to figure that out. "Surely they'll watch the play demos... surely!"

there isn't? like if you sit on the screen with the metroid in the pod, it doesn't fade out and show some demo stuff?
Like, if you sit on the screen with the metroid in the tube for a bit, it doesn't fade from that and show some example gameplay?
My rom has [E] [!] on it, might be a region difference thing perhaps?

In fact, here's the exact "attract mode" from my version and the SNES version:

It shows all of that, but not blowing up the tube.

Thing is with that, my creations that are straight from my mind are really dull:

But when it comes to making sprites of already existant things, that is something I CAN do.
But when it comes to making games, there is usually one person for character/enemy/background designing, and one for the spriting of those designs. So I am the latter guy.

Yeah, but even so, I used to do similar stuff. Maybe remaking a font with just tiny pixels isn't that hard, but I had tried doing things like that and it was REALLY frustrating, so I still judge it as very well done and definitely having had required a lot of time and effort
