I think at this point, it would be repetitive of me to just on and on and ON about you and your fabulous textures, but dammit, just LOOK at those things! I can ogle those things one after the other in the same way that I can ogle a pair of titties over and over again.
It also wins points for being so positively adorable... even though I think I still wouldn't want to run into one of those things in the middle of the forest. I mean, hey, those compsognathus in Jurassic Park II looked cute at first. :)
Also, question: The background... is that a photo that was glossed over, or did you do that yourself?
Oh my, such high praise... XD

Well actually, I wasn't even using a reference, but I'll take that as compliment. XD
As always, your feedback is appreciated - Glad you enjoyed the pic!
Other than that, it's mostly practice practice practice etc. ... :P
I really like the lines you textured the bark with, and the different scale shapes. OH SHIT I just noticed the green filtered sunlight in the shadows of the leaves! That's incredible.
... On a second thought, eyeball love doesn't really sound that great to me. D:
Glad you enjoyed the pic! :D
We have cookies. And adult movies."
( *Not including a one-time payment of 1 (one) soul, and eventual additional costs such as the occasional human sacrifice. )
I sometimes feel the same way, when I see people pull off this sort of thing in one or two hours, and without any lineart for guidance... But really, it all comes down to experience. The more you learn about the practical and theoretical aspects of art, the faster and more efficient you'll be able to work. For most artists, me included, around 80% of the time spent on a picture is wasted due to insecurity about how exactly something should look and/or how to achieve the desired results most efficiently.
...Ah. So this is why I watched you.
... ^.=.^ I made a good decision for once!
