Interesting. A bit stereotypical, a troubadour and a barbarian, in a hostile desert, seeking a critter who they want to win, albeit through different means. But, the setting and the characters are interesting, this could hold some promise, at least I was intrigued. Great little piece, short and entertaining, and hinting of adventures to come. I enjoyed reading this. Good work.

I'm not well read enough to determine if this is trite though I'm pretty sure most hank'n'slash and fantasy stories nowadays are. Though as you said, it could go somewhere completely different.

What struck me was the odd, but interesting pairing of the minstrel and the barbarian. That could make for an entertaining story.

I think a healthy amount of people still read mature writing. But over time, I've found myself, in particular, reading the adult stories less and less.

I just did! I realized I forgot to mention where Estle got off to in the second chapter, but we'll catch up with him later.

I've been taking the point of view of Sekamar; he's the one who is certain Estle is a barbarian. I was a little careless and didn't phrase that well.

Looks like a nice start to an interesting story, and a nice readable amount instead of a super long chapter like some write.

Maybe writing this in the fox's "head" might make the point of view more clear? But I'm curious what's going to happen next, and that can't be a bad thing. *grins*

By itself, it leaves me wanting, but it is certainly a good introduction to the characters.
