Fair enough I was thinking of something else complete different to calcite too. I just realised that I was looking at the chunk of "Striated" Black Tourmaline in Quartz I have that is really odd looking for quartz. I haven't done anything with rocks since my granddad died. *hugs* I think you are closer to the mark with Ulexite.
