Hehe love seeing this, My kungfu school has been doing performances all over the city for the New lunar year, its fun and tiring at times, this is so cute. xD thats a big green, so there is gonna be lots of luck for the crowd to get showered with. would like to share some knowledge about the Lion:
.) the lion was given as a gift to the emperor a long time ago, after an exploration to Africa, that's why there probably any mention of lions except for this celebration, if i had to guess, i think the lion probalby roared and saved the emperor and the emperor being pretty much a god said, Lions are awesome, we should have them remove bad spirits.
.) in celebrations the lion is to ward off bad spirits, the lions mostly used are the playful lions, such as what silver fox created. They ward off bad luck and spirits by 3 primary ways, first is blessing the main entrance of a building or where the celebration is happening, with a salute, cleaning the door way, both sides then the top, then performing a trick.. the second part is the dance around, the large Reflective orb (flower in the middle of what silverfox drew) destroys the evil of what ever is reflected in it, removing bad luck. and the last way, is of course the Green, when the lion chews it up and sprays out to the crowd they are blessed by the lion, In a celebration, there is usually guest of on who we pelt much of it with.
.) The lion will all eat red packets from the crowd, this is the best way to reward a good dance and to remove bad luck as not everyone well get hit with the lettuce.
.) near the end of the dance the lion needs to perform a standing trick where it stands on its hind legs, so a good lion needs to have a strong dancers =D the head is heavy, and the back has to spend so much time bent over,
.) lastly the dance should be fun and bring all the people joy. I love seeing everyone's face light up as we all perform.
