Vacation StrugglesCameron and Bryce were in search of extra jobs trying to save up for summer vacation. With every job being almost full, the two took to the Internet in search of jobs. There were several jobs but the pay wasn’t that great. One job stuck out compared to the rest of them though, it paid enough that the two wouldn't have to work again. Bryce called the number listed with the job as and was given a time and directions.

The thought of having enough money for the rest of their lives made them feel very strongly about getting this job. The two grabbed their wallets, got into one of the cars they had and started their drive to the address. The drive was nice, they started in the city and ended up in the country. The scenery was so green and full of life. The drive itself took about an hour to complete when they got to the building. It looked like everything was very old, the exterior had a Victorian feel to it.

Cameron and Bryce exited the car and made their way up the walkway. They got to the front door and used the knocker, which was shaped like a fox, to indicate they were here. An man who appeared to be in his mid 40s answered the door. “Welcome, you must be Bryce and Cameron, we've been expecting you. Please do come in.” The two boys followed the man into the building, when they first entered they were greeted by a huge room with a dome ceiling. There were a few couches and chairs in the room and some tables with books and magazines out on them. “I'm afraid I'm the only one working today but my boss is going to be arriving later.” The man said. Bryce asked what kind of job it was they were expected to do, and was curious about the money. The man had said he could answer more when they got to the office. The man asked what the two boys would need that money for and Cameron has said, “Well sir, we are planning a vacation and would like more money to expand the possibilities.”

“Oh, I see” said the man. “We are almost there just a few more moments” he said while calling an elevator. We were apparently on the 3rd floor and had to go down to the first floor. “This way,” he said indicating the two to follow him. The three had reached a door and in it was two operating tables, and some medical cabinets. “Please sit on the tables and we will discuss the type of job this is.” The man said.

“So you want to know what type of job this is and how much money you will be getting. I can tell you this boys, the job is not one that does not come with risks, but it is guaranteed your health will be fine. As far as the money is concerned you will be given everything you want whenever you want it for the rest of your lives. You can go on as many vacations as you want and will never have to work another day of your life. Does this sound like something you’d be interested in?” The man asked.

Bryce looked at Cameron and turned back to the man I am interested. Cameron thought about his answer for a while but finally answered in agreement as well. “Okay this is good. If you will look beside you there is a gown, please strip down to your underwear and put these on. You will be testing our new brain enhancement serum. We’re trying to find a way for humans to communicate with animals to better benefit them should they try and express what they want or need.” You will not be harmed while taking this but the results are permanent, and you already agreed to be participants. Now let’s begin.” The man gave both Bryce and Cameron a vial of this serum, “On three?” Bryce said to Cameron, “On three.” Cameron replied.

The two drank the serum and waited. “Sir I don't think this serum is working.” Bryce said.
“Oh just give it a moment and you should be able to tell.”
The two felt a warmth come over their bodies. They started itching all over and felt hair on their legs which hadn't been there earlier. To the boys shock it was not hair it was fur, they had grown fur! How is this even possible?! The gown they were asked to wear felt looser than it did a few seconds ago.the two looked at each other in horror as they saw the other changing before them. Bryce’s once tan skin was now covered in white fur his hair was white and his face had thinned and shrunk. Cameron's face thinned out and shrunk as well and he was covered in a light brown fur. They two tried speaking but only managed to make get a few tips out, their voices were no longer human, their jaws elongated as their noses darkened, their once human ears grew and became pointed, and repositioned themselves at the top of their heads. Their entire from shrunk and gravity had forced them down on all fours. The gown had dropped on top of the two since they shrunk so much. Their hands and feet shrunk and formed paws, they resembled that of a fox. Pads few on the bottom of their newly formed paws and a tugging was starting at each of the bottom of their spines. The two had grown tails, small at first but lengthening and growing fur to match the rest of their bodies. “Well are you two able to communicate with animals now?” The man asked as he came over to what used to be the two boys? He lifted the gowns to untangle the creatures inside and he held a mirror up showing them their bodies. Bryce had become a snow fox while Cameron a corsac fox. “Now about your payment,” the two foxes looked up at this strange man in confusion, “my boss will be here any moment to give you your payment, now please sit there while I get you a cage and some food.” The foxes’ cheeks perked up and their tails started swaying at the mention of food. The man came back with cages that had a small bowl of food in them and some water in a bottle attached to the cage. The two foxes entered their separate cages and the man shut the age behind then. He moved the foxes near the clothes of the two boys, and the snow fox sniffed, smelling a strange but familiar sent. The smell of food drew the snow fox back in however and it ate from the bowl. A few minutes later a woman and child entered the room. “Welcome madam, here are the two pets you requested for your daughter, I assure you they are domesticated and safe for your daughter to play with.” The scented said with a hint of nervousness in his tone.
“You better be right about that, I certainly don't have the time to play with her but as long as she is happy with them, what do I care?” The girl looked at the foxes while her mom talked to the man. She was fascinated by both creatures and decided to call the corsac fox, Christopher, and the snow fox, Alec. “You two will keep me company won't you?” She said in a soft, sweet voice? “My mom never plays with me, it's very lonely.” The two foxes yipped and swayed their tails in excitement. “I hope you two enjoy traveling, we are always traveling because my mom has clients all over the world.”

The foxes got their vacation and life of luxury after all, even if it wasn't in the way they planned.art by  curious~red~fox
