Okay, this is a little bit unusual for me. But this is a violin duet in a scale that I designed.
For the theory buffs:
The scale is specifically created with the intention of tonic being able to be the root for four different types of triads, while still being within the scale: diminished, minor, major and augmented. The way I've managed to do that is to Take a major scale, except with an augmented 2, an augmented 4, and a minor 6.
For instance, the tonic in this song is D. That means without straying for this scale, one could include the enharmonic equivalent of a d dim, d min, D maj, D aug chord. The d dim would look like D, E#, G#, the minor D, E#, A, the major D, F#, A (which is the actual root triad of the scale) and the augmented D, F#, Bb. Also, the third and sixth degrees of the scale can be used in minor, major or augmented triads.
The scale goes like this: D, E#, F#, G#, A, Bb, C#, so if you were really adventurous you can smack those accidentals into the key signature (somehow?) and not have to worry about it -- the beauty of heptatonic scales! Every line and space corresponds to one and only one note in the scale. :) I chose to write it using accidentals, though, because that would be more kind to musicians.
Please don't commandeer this scale for your own use, or at least without getting permission from me first. Thankies. :)

Thanks. I came up with the idea just fiddling around and played the scale over and over and thought "this actually sounds reasonable!". And I love the Hungarian minor scale. It's beautiful.
And, yeah, definitely. If you feel like using it, just send me a note. :)

You and I were thinking about alternate scales based around a single tone at the same time... my composition will take longer to come out; I've written lyrics, and I'm trying to make a melody around the chord progression.
By the way, this piece has much more movement than I expected... good work!
