I think this needs a major overhaul if I'm to continue it. We'll see what happens. Made in Blender; textures are procedural. Verts/Faces: Too damn many.

Thanks! Hopefully I'll get some proper grunge textures and a more sinister lighting setup to keep that rolling.

I had one guy on IM a while ago that wanted me to model a bunch of stuff for their StarFox fanfic something-or-other. I gave in and did the Fortuna Base thing that may still be in my gallery. There was also Adelio's ring design that I did another while ago. That's all I can remember...

I assume, from this statement, that the ornate grillwork is modeled, rather than achieved through transmaps, displacement, etc.?

Yups, all modeled. I find it gives a much more solid-looking result than alpha maps and the like. Thanks for commenting!

The rotating bits confuse me. Do the big metal slabs fold over and cover the grills or something?

And as for system death, I don't think you have to splurge with the polys as much as I did, eheh...

lol my swords in my gallery with some exceptions are around 6k poly each. the most poly in any of my models is the greening Spear render. thats around 12k. so yeah i'm a bit of a polynut
